Jimmy Carter Gets New Honor
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced a new Forever stamp honoring former President Jimmy Carter, set to be released on October 1, 2025—the date that would have marked his 101st birthday.
This commemorative stamp pays tribute to a leader who shaped American history, faith, and diplomacy during a pivotal time for the nation.
A Patriotic Tribute to American History
“The stamp program celebrates the best in American culture, places, and people,” said Peter Pastre, USPS vice president of government relations and public policy. “It is difficult to think of a more deserving honoree than President Carter.”
The stamp features a 1982 oil-on-linen portrait by Herbert E. Abrams, with the final design led by USPS art director Ethel Kessler. Collectors and patriots alike will soon be able to hold a piece of history in their hands.
Carter: America’s Longest-Living President
Carter passed away in December at the age of 100, leaving behind a legacy as the longest-living U.S. president in history.
During his time in office, Carter brokered the Camp David Accords, securing peace between Israel and Egypt, and pushed forward the SALT II treaty to reduce Cold War tensions. His funeral drew world leaders, dignitaries, and Americans of all stripes who came to honor his service.
A Legacy of Faith, Service, and Family
Born in Plains, Georgia, Carter never forgot his roots. Alongside his beloved wife Rosalynn, he dedicated decades after the presidency to humanitarian causes, including Habitat for Humanity and international health programs.
Kim Carter Fuller, executive director of the Friends of Jimmy Carter, praised the honor:
“Today’s stamp reveal allows Americans to share his legacy daily—whether sending a letter, collecting history, or simply reflecting on his life of service.”
Why This Stamp Matters
The Jimmy Carter Forever Stamp is more than a piece of mail—it’s a symbol of American resilience, diplomacy, and tradition. For older Americans who lived through the Carter years, this tribute serves as a reminder of how far the nation has come, and how leaders of faith and conviction leave a lasting mark.
Collectors, patriots, and everyday Americans can purchase the stamp beginning October 1st, ensuring Carter’s story continues to be told for generations.
