Senate Says Biden Did What?
A bombshell new report from the Senate Commerce Committee reveals that the Biden administration quietly pressured major U.S. airports to convert secure airport facilities into shelters for illegal migrants—despite warnings of serious safety threats to the traveling public.
The committee says that no fewer than 11 airports — among them Boston Logan, Chicago O’Hare, and New York’s JFK — were approached and, in some cases, pushed to convert terminals, hangars, storage areas, and other airport facilities into temporary housing for migrants coming from the southern border.
White House Directed Agencies to Repurpose Airports for Migrant Shelters
The 47-page report, titled “Flight Risk,” details how the Biden White House instructed multiple federal transportation agencies—including the DOT, FAA, FMCSA, and FTA—to:
- Identify airport facilities that could be turned into migrant shelters
- Create processing hubs inside or near airports
- Divert federal resources away from aviation safety to handle migrant arrivals
Internal emails show agency staff were alarmed and overwhelmed.
One FAA email to Massport (the operator of Boston Logan) stated that the request came directly from the White House and that it required “immediate” action.
Airports Warned of Serious Safety Threats — Biden Officials Ignored Them
The report states that FAA officials ignored federal grant-assurance rules, which normally prohibit airports from repurposing secure aviation spaces.
Massport pushed back, warning the Biden administration that:
- Logan Airport was not equipped to manage migrant intake
- The move would cause major security issues
- Thousands of travelers could face unintended safety consequences
Despite these warnings, Logan was ultimately forced to house up to 352 migrants overnight in Terminal E, costing taxpayers nearly $780,000 in extra security, cleaning, and transportation services.
Chicago O’Hare Became a Massive Migrant Shelter
The situation at Chicago O’Hare International Airport was even more alarming.
The report reveals that:
- Up to 900 migrants were living inside a shuttle terminal
- Police responded to 329 service calls
- 26 arrests were made for theft, disorderly conduct, and other crimes
- A death investigation occurred during the period
- Migrants were not restricted to designated areas, raising public safety risks
Travelers unknowingly walked through what had effectively become a migrant encampment inside an airport.
Report: Federal Transportation Resources Misused, Air Travel Security Weakened
The Senate panel concluded that the Biden administration carried out a sweeping and dangerous redirect of federal aviation resources.
According to the report:
The report argues that the Biden-Harris administration weakened airport and aviation security by permitting migrants to be housed in airport facilities, allowing individuals with incomplete vetting to move through the country by air, and pulling federal air marshals away from their normal duties to assist at the border.
For Americans already concerned about the border crisis, the report paints a picture of reckless leadership, misplaced priorities, and blatant disregard for public safety.
Bottom Line
This report shows that the Biden administration put illegal migrants ahead of airport security, ahead of taxpayers, and ahead of the American traveling public.
Airports are supposed to be safe, secure, and tightly managed—not converted into overnight shelters because Washington refuses to fix the border crisis.
