Smith went on to concede that years of liberal crime policies have failed, citing a lack of accountability and transparency in how Democrats governed the city.

Mississippi became the fourth Republican-led state to support Trump’s initiative by sending troops to Washington.

Gov. Tate Reeves (R) announced on X that he had authorized around 200 Mississippi National Guard troops to be sent to Washington, D.C., in order to back President Trump’s mission to restore law and order in the nation’s capital.

This comes after other GOP governors pledged their support, sending reinforcements to back the president’s mission.

Democrats Push Back

Instead of addressing crime, Democrats are doubling down on criticism. Smith accused Trump of wanting his own “domestic police force,” even suggesting ICE agents were “picking people up off the streets with no evidence.”

Despite these claims, the reality is clear: violent crime has skyrocketed under Democrat leadership in America’s cities, and Trump is the only one taking meaningful steps to restore order.
