Texas Democrats Point The Finger

In the wake of devastating floods that claimed over 120 lives in Texas, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) is pointing fingers—not at local leaders who failed to act—but at President Donald Trump and the federal response.

During an MSNBC interview, Doggett claimed the government “failed at every level,” insisting that the tragedy could have been prevented with better preparation. Yet the Democrat lawmaker offered little criticism of local and state officials, focusing instead on a familiar target: Trump.

“There are families across the state suffering, and this didn’t have to happen,” Doggett said. “I believe there were failures from the county, to the state, to the federal government.”

While touring the flood-ravaged region, President Trump praised first responders and emergency crews for their bravery under pressure. When asked by a Texas reporter about early warning system failures, Trump pushed back.

“I think everyone did an incredible job under the circumstances,” Trump said. “Only a bad person would ask a question like that. It’s disgraceful to try to politicize this tragedy.”

Doggett later criticized the President’s response, accusing Trump of dodging accountability and attacking the press—echoing the same tired Democrat talking points seen repeatedly on left-wing networks.

The congressman also blamed FEMA, claiming their rescue teams were delayed and underprepared, although FEMA officials noted they had deployed multiple units as soon as conditions allowed. Still, Doggett claimed the federal response was a “failure,” even as locals praised the rapid arrival of help.

Doggett, along with a small group of Democrats, also suggested that supposed staff cuts at the National Weather Service may have delayed critical alerts. However, no direct evidence has been provided to support that claim.

Meanwhile, CNN stirred controversy by reporting that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem introduced a new rule requiring her approval on contracts over $100,000. Leftist outlets portrayed the policy as a roadblock to disaster relief.

But Noem fired back on Fox News, slamming CNN for spreading misinformation.

“It’s absolutely trash what they’re doing,” Noem said. “Their report is fake news—plain and simple.”

President Trump defended Noem, calling her one of the first officials on the ground. “She didn’t need approval—she took action right away. She was already there. She’s a leader,” Trump said during an NBC interview.

As Democrats attempt to rewrite the narrative and shift blame to Washington, many Americans are asking a simple question: Where were the local officials who should’ve sounded the alarm?
