Newsom Gains Liberal Praise

Bill Maher Applauds Newsom’s “Trump-Style” Posts

On his HBO show Real Time, liberal comedian Bill Maher surprised his audience by openly praising California Governor Gavin Newsom’s strange attempt to mimic President Donald Trump on social media. Maher admitted that Newsom has been deliberately trying to “out-stupid” Trump online, imitating the President’s unmistakable style.

Maher remarked Friday night that Newsom has started mocking President Trump online, something he said he’s never seen a Democrat attempt before. He added that he found it amusing, noting the governor is copying Trump’s style almost word for word.

Maher went so far as to read one of Newsom’s posts in a mock Trump voice, joking: “He’ll fail like always, sad. I, the peacetime governor and America’s favorite, will save the nation again. Many say I’m the most admired and good-looking governor.”

Democrats Try, But Fail, to Copy Trump’s Social Media Power

For weeks, Newsom’s team has been posting in all caps, borrowing Trump’s famous words like “beautiful,” and trying to project confidence in a Trump-like manner. Maher joked that the California governor “gets it,” saying, “Don’t try to outsmart people. You have to out-stupid them.”

But Washington insiders—and even many Democrats—say the gimmick has backfired. Instead of boosting Newsom’s image, it has reminded voters just how much influence President Trump still has in American politics.

One Trump ally told The Hill: “If he wanted to get under President Trump’s skin, it didn’t work. Everyone around here saw it as comical. Let’s face it—there’s only one Trump.”

JD Vance: “Trump’s Genius Is Authenticity”

Vice President JD Vance weighed in on the matter during a Fox Business interview, dismissing the idea that Democrats can copy Trump’s success.

Vance explained that President Trump’s political strength comes from his authenticity. He said Trump simply presents himself as he is, speaking directly to people about real issues—something Vance argued sets him apart.

Newsom’s “No Regrets Strategy” Meets Trump’s Direct Response

Earlier this month, Newsom defended his online tactics, calling them a “no regrets strategy.” He claimed he had to “fight fire with fire” to counter the Texas GOP’s redistricting push, which has strong support from President Trump.

But the President himself hit back hard, blasting Newsom’s record in California: “He’s way down in the polls. He’s viewed as the man who is destroying the once Great State of California. I will save California!!!”

Why Conservatives Aren’t Buying It

For conservatives, the episode is more proof that Democrats don’t understand what makes Trump’s movement powerful. Trump doesn’t need to pretend or copy anyone—his authenticity, energy, and results speak for themselves.

Gavin Newsom may try to act like Trump online, but the reality is clear: California is suffering under his failed leadership, and no amount of social media stunts will change that.
