Trump Attacked For Latest Raid
Axelrod Says Trump Critics Are Being Targeted — White House Hits Back
The FBI raid on former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s home has ignited a political firestorm. Obama-era strategist David Axelrod went on CNN Friday to claim the raid was meant to intimidate opponents of President Trump.
“This isn’t just about Bolton. It’s a warning to anyone who dares criticize the president that the Justice Department will come after you,” Axelrod alleged.
Bolton’s Feud With Trump Heats Up Again
John Bolton, once inside Trump’s inner circle, turned bitter critic after leaving the White House. He published his tell-all book “The Room Where It Happened” in 2020, attacking the president and raising suspicions he mishandled classified information.
Bolton has also been blasting Trump’s handling of the Russia-Ukraine war, becoming a favorite guest of left-leaning media outlets. That history made Friday’s FBI action appear, to some, like payback.
FBI and Administration Speak Out
The FBI confirmed a “court-authorized law enforcement activity” at Bolton’s residence near Washington, D.C. Director Kash Patel posted on X: “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”
Vice President JD Vance reposted it, while FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino added: “Public corruption will not be tolerated.”
Axelrod called the coordinated response “a politically motivated gesture.”
Trump Responds With Fire
President Trump, asked about the raid, didn’t mince words:
“He’s not a smart guy. But he could be a very unpatriotic guy. We’re going to find out. I know nothing about it. I just saw it this morning, they did a raid.”
Earlier this year, Trump revoked Bolton’s security clearance and stripped him of Secret Service protection, cutting off privileges Bolton once enjoyed.
