Thune Reveals Next Senate Vote

The Senate will hold a critical vote Wednesday to reopen the federal government, as Republicans ramp up pressure on Democrats to end the shutdown crisis that has left American families, seniors, and taxpayers caught in political crossfire.

Senate Republican Whip John Thune (R-S.D.) expressed confidence that momentum is building. “We picked up three Democrat votes tonight,” Thune said during a TV interview. “We’re hopeful more will join us next time. Eventually, we’ll get enough support to pass this bill and keep the government open.”

Republicans say the blame lies squarely with Democrat leadership. Thune pointed directly at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), accusing him of bowing to the radical left instead of working for the American people.

“This shutdown was completely unnecessary,” Thune declared. “It happened because Schumer is catering to his far-left base—and because he’s terrified of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He’s running scared every day, worried she might challenge him in 2028.”

Meanwhile, federal agencies are bracing for prolonged disruption, with key services already slowed or halted. Seniors, veterans, and working families face uncertainty, while Washington Democrats continue to stall.

Republicans argue it’s time to put politics aside and put America first. With pressure mounting, the Wednesday vote could be the turning point that ends the Democrat-created shutdown and restores stability for millions of Americans.
