Governor Welcomes Trump’s Border Agents

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry is strongly supporting President Donald Trump’s upcoming Operation Swamp Sweep, calling it a commonsense public-safety mission to get violent criminal illegal immigrants off America’s streets—not a political stunt.

The Trump administration plans to deploy approximately 250 federal DHS agents to New Orleans beginning December 1. Over the following two months, these agents will fan out across southeast Louisiana and parts of Mississippi, with a goal of arresting around 5,000 criminal illegal immigrants.

This builds on similar high-intensity immigration enforcement actions already underway in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Charlotte, as President Trump moves aggressively to restore order and secure the homeland.

Landry: Being in the U.S. Illegally Doesn’t Grant Immunity

Speaking on Newsmax’s “American Agenda,” Landry dismissed complaints from Democrats and activist groups.

“We partner with our federal agencies all the time to remove dangerous criminals. Being in this country illegally does not make someone immune from arrest,” he said.

Landry emphasized that the operation is laser-focused on serious offenders, not families or workers.

“These are individuals with criminal records—murderers, rapists, child predators, narcotics traffickers. People who have already broken the law and are wanted for violent crimes,” he said. “Why would anyone want these people left on our streets?”

Landry Challenges Anyone Opposing the Crackdown

When asked about public reaction, Landry said Louisianans overwhelmingly support strong law enforcement—and he questioned the motives of anyone who doesn’t.

“If someone has a problem removing murderers, rapists, and predators from our communities, send them to me. I really want to know what’s going on in their brains,” Landry said.

Recent Cases Highlight the Threat

Landry pointed to real-world examples that underscore the danger criminal illegals pose:

  • A recent arrest in Louisiana uncovered an illegal immigrant transporting multiple kilos of cocaine.
  • Another illegal immigrant was charged with the killing of a high school basketball player in St. Mary Parish.

“These are not isolated incidents,” Landry warned. “These are the criminals President Trump is determined to remove.”

Operation Swamp Sweep Fits Into Louisiana’s Tough-on-Crime Agenda

Landry has already shifted Louisiana toward much stricter crime policies.
Under Operation GEAUX, state and local police are moving into 287(g) agreements with ICE, strengthening cooperation between state and federal law enforcement.

He recently signed a sweeping set of pro-law-and-order reforms, including:

  • Expanded execution protocols
  • New parole restrictions
  • Broader coordination with ICE and DHS

Landry says Swamp Sweep is simply the next logical step.

“Whether it’s an American citizen committing violent crime or an illegal alien, we want dangerous people off our streets,” he said.

Landry Blames Democrats for Fueling the Border Crisis

The governor placed direct responsibility for the migrant surge on Democrats in Washington.

“They have dog-whistled millions of migrants across our border with no concern for who they were,” he said. “And yes—many were dangerous. We know that. That’s what President Trump is now working to remove.”

Landry said Operation Swamp Sweep is exactly the kind of bold, decisive action Americans have demanded for years.
