GOP Insider Makes Surprising Confession
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is shutting down rumors that President Trump plans to send U.S. troops into Venezuela, saying the president’s priority is securing America—not getting dragged into another foreign conflict.
During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, Mullin reiterated what many conservatives appreciate about Trump’s foreign policy approach:
“He’s made it very clear we’re not going to put troops into Venezuela,” Mullin said. “Our focus is protecting our shores and protecting the American people.”
Trump Declares Venezuelan Airspace “Completely Closed”
President Trump announced this weekend that the airspace above Venezuela is now fully closed due to growing instability and the rise of drug-trafficking networks connected to Nicolás Maduro’s socialist regime.
The FAA recently urged pilots to “use caution” near Venezuela, underscoring serious safety concerns.
Trump delivered a direct and unmistakable message on Truth Social:
“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers — consider the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela CLOSED.”
This announcement immediately drew global attention and sent a clear warning to criminal networks operating in the region.
Major Crackdown on International Drug Trafficking
Since early September, President Trump has authorized a series of targeted strikes against drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. More than 80 traffickers have been killed as the U.S. ramps up pressure on Maduro-linked cartels.
Speaking to U.S. troops on Thanksgiving, Trump revealed that the mission is expanding:
“People aren’t delivering drugs by sea anymore. We’re going to start stopping them by land too. The land is easier — and that begins very soon.”
This approach strongly resonates with voters over 50 who want decisive action on border security, drug trafficking, and national defense.
Mullin: This Is “Peace Through Strength” in Action
Despite speculation in the media, Mullin said Trump has not committed to airstrikes on Venezuelan soil, describing the president’s posture as firm but measured.
“This is what peace through strength looks like,” Mullin said. “If you threaten the United States, we aren’t waiting for you to strike first.”
This type of proactive strategy is one of the reasons many older conservative voters continue to trust Trump’s leadership in dangerous and unpredictable regions.
Maduro Deploys Troops as Pressure Mounts
Venezuelan ruler Nicolás Maduro — widely viewed by U.S. officials as an illegitimate socialist strongman tied to drug-running operations — has deployed thousands of troops in response to America’s actions.
According to The New York Times, Trump and Maduro recently spoke and even discussed a potential meeting — a sign that Trump’s pressure campaign is working and forcing Maduro to the negotiating table.
