JD Vance Targeted Buy Protestors
Vice President JD Vance recently shared a disturbing encounter with pro-Ukraine protesters while out with his young daughter in Cincinnati. On Saturday, Vance was walking with his 3-year-old daughter when he was approached by a group of demonstrators chanting “Slava Ukraini,” a rallying cry in support of Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia. As the protesters followed him, Vance noticed his daughter becoming increasingly anxious and scared by their presence.
In a post on X, Vance recounted the experience, stating that he felt compelled to engage in a conversation with the protesters in the hopes that they would stop following him and allow his child some peace. “I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. Nearly all of them agreed,” he wrote. While the conversation remained mostly respectful, Vance made it clear that chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest was inexcusable, calling such behavior “disrespectful.”
The protest took place near Vance’s home in East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, with a group of about 30 to 40 individuals carrying signs supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russia. While Vance did not specify the details of the conversation, it was clear that the encounter left him frustrated and concerned for his child’s well-being.
This event comes on the heels of a tense meeting in late February between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During that exchange, Trump and Vance both voiced their frustrations with Zelensky’s approach to U.S. military aid, expressing that the Ukrainian president was insufficiently appreciative of the support the U.S. had provided since Russia’s invasion. Trump famously told Zelensky that his remarks about potential consequences in the U.S. were unacceptable, emphasizing that America was already doing its part in addressing the conflict.
Vance, who has voiced skepticism about the continued military aid to Ukraine during his time in the Senate, faced similar pushback from pro-Ukraine demonstrators on his trip to Vermont just a week earlier, where some protesters taunted him, saying he had no friends in the state. Despite the tension surrounding Ukraine’s involvement in the conflict, Vance’s dedication to defending American interests and prioritizing domestic issues remains steadfast.
