Veteran Journalist Officially Loses His Job
ABC News has officially severed ties with longtime correspondent Terry Moran after the journalist launched a hostile social media tirade against President Donald Trump and senior White House aide Stephen Miller.
According to an official statement from the network, Moran’s contract will not be renewed due to what it described as a “clear violation” of company policies. The network emphasized its commitment to journalistic standards, stating, “ABC News holds its reporters to the highest level of objectivity, fairness, and professionalism.”
Moran was suspended over the weekend after posting a now-deleted rant on the platform X (formerly Twitter). In it, he referred to Miller as a “world-class hater,” claiming that Miller “feeds on hate” as “spiritual nourishment.” He also launched a personal attack on President Trump, calling him “a world-class hater” whose “hatred” supposedly serves only to glorify himself.
The post quickly drew backlash, particularly from within the Trump administration. The West Wing reportedly demanded action, urging the Disney-owned outlet to take disciplinary measures. White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung responded to Moran’s firing with a blunt post of his own: “Talk s—. Get hit.”
This development comes amid growing tension between the Trump White House and mainstream media outlets. President Trump has repeatedly called out what he sees as unfair and biased coverage, with ABC News among those under fire. In fact, the President has recently suggested that the Federal Communications Commission take a closer look at the network’s broadcast license.
Adding fuel to the fire, ABC News quietly settled a major defamation lawsuit brought by President Trump late last year. The network reportedly agreed to pay $15 million over a false on-air statement by anchor George Stephanopoulos, who wrongly claimed Trump had been convicted of sexual assault — a statement that was never true.
Terry Moran, who spent over 20 years with ABC News, has held numerous high-profile positions, including White House correspondent and foreign affairs analyst. But in the end, it appears his blatant disregard for professional boundaries cost him his job.
As President Trump’s second term continues to reshape the media landscape, many Americans are applauding this move as a long-overdue step toward accountability in mainstream journalism.
