Musk To Tank Trump’s Hard Work?
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Billionaire innovator Elon Musk is throwing a political grenade into Capitol Hill—this time targeting President Trump’s ambitious “America First” spending plan, warning Republican lawmakers they could face primary challengers if they back the legislation.
GOP Lawmakers Torn Between Trump’s Agenda and Musk’s Millions
On Wednesday, Alyssa Farah Griffin, former Trump White House aide turned media pundit, told viewers of ABC’s The View that Musk now holds the power to “tank” President Trump’s legislative agenda by using his wealth to reshape Republican primaries.
“Elon Musk basically has the financial power to take out any Republican he wants,” she said. “If Republicans are more afraid of Musk’s dark money than of disappointing Trump, it’s a major threat to the America First movement.”
Griffin described the internal conflict: Trump is urging lawmakers to support the bill aimed at rebuilding U.S. infrastructure, securing the border, and revitalizing American manufacturing. Meanwhile, Musk is making clear he won’t sit quietly if conservatives back what he sees as bloated government spending.
Musk’s Threat: Primary Every “Betrayer”
Musk, who recently stepped down from his advisory role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said he’s taking a temporary break from political donations—but with a warning. Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum, he said, “If I see a reason to spend politically, I will.” That “reason” may have arrived.
On Tuesday, Musk posted on X:
“Come next election, we remove every elected official who betrayed the trust of this nation.”
His remarks signal a possible return to aggressive political funding—just as President Trump’s administration works to push forward a critical piece of legislation that could define his second term.
High Stakes: Could the House Flip?
Griffin noted Musk spent millions on state-level races in 2024, including the Wisconsin Supreme Court battle, and said he only needs to knock out a few GOP incumbents to flip control of the House back to Democrats.
“If Musk follows through, and just a handful of Republicans lose their seats, Democrats could take the House,” she warned. “That’s all it would take to block President Trump’s agenda completely.”
The Conservative Crossroads
Republican lawmakers now face a defining choice: Stand with President Trump and secure America’s future—or cave to Musk’s financial threats and risk derailing the conservative movement.
With November’s elections approaching, the battle lines are clear. Trump’s “big, beautiful” plan represents a bold return to American strength. But powerful interests—both inside and outside the party—are working overtime to shut it down.
