Ocasio-Cortez Attacks The GOP
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is doubling down on her attacks against House Republicans, this time accusing them of “robbing the poor to help the rich” in response to long-overdue efforts to reform the bloated Medicaid system.
Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent member of the far-left “Squad,” blasted GOP lawmakers in a recent interview, slamming proposed reductions in Medicaid funding—despite the program’s ballooning costs and questionable efficiency. “They’re robbing people in order to hand it over to the rich,” she told Rolling Stone, repeating familiar progressive talking points.
But what the New York congresswoman fails to mention is that Medicaid—one of the largest government programs in the nation—has grown far beyond its original mission. Republican lawmakers are now seeking to restore fiscal sanity by scaling back unnecessary spending and prioritizing border security, national defense, and permanent tax relief for working families.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee is reviewing a budget reconciliation proposal that includes over $800 billion in savings from Medicaid. Although two controversial provisions have been reconsidered, the committee is preparing to move forward this week.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that placing a cap on Medicaid expansion spending could save taxpayers $225 billion and potentially reduce the number of uninsured by 1.5 million—a tradeoff many fiscal conservatives believe is worth making.
Still, Democrats are outraged. Ocasio-Cortez accused Republicans of doing the bidding of “Big Oil, Big Tech, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos,” claiming they are gutting healthcare just to deliver “bags of money” to donors.
While her statements generate headlines, conservatives argue the truth is clear: the federal government is spending unsustainable amounts on entitlement programs, while average Americans face inflation, rising debt, and an insecure border.
Former President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts brought economic growth and relief for millions. Now, House Republicans want to expand those tax cuts—a move widely supported by small business owners, seniors, and middle-class families.
In contrast, Democrats are defending bureaucracy and bloated welfare programs. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was even removed from President Trump’s address to Congress for interrupting proceedings in protest of the Medicaid reductions.
Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) joined the outrage, using a lengthy Senate floor speech to denounce the budget plan—ignoring the fact that this is the richest country in history, but one that must live within its means.
Bottom Line:
Conservatives are fighting to put America’s finances back on track, protect the border, strengthen the military, and ensure that tax relief reaches the people—not the bureaucrats. AOC and the left want to keep spending, no matter the cost.
