Trump Sets Deadline For Big Beautiful Bill

Washington, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump is demanding action from Republican lawmakers, urging Congress to deliver his signature tax and spending bill by Independence Day. With the Senate returning from recess, the pressure is on to fulfill a key promise of Trump’s America First agenda.

In a Monday post on Truth Social, Trump called on the GOP to move with urgency:
“With the Senate back in Washington today, I’m calling on all Republicans to get the Big Beautiful Bill to my desk before July 4th.”

The high-stakes legislation—which passed the House by a razor-thin margin last week—is now stalled in the Senate, where several conservative senators are sounding the alarm over excessive spending and a bloated federal budget.

Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rand Paul (R-KY) have both raised red flags. Their main concern: the bill doesn’t go far enough in cutting wasteful government spending—and includes a controversial debt ceiling hike.

“Until this White House gets serious about spending cuts and reducing the national deficit, I don’t see a path forward,” Sen. Johnson said. “This so-called Big Beautiful Bill is headed straight for the iceberg.”

Some Senate Republicans have also voiced concern over proposed adjustments to Medicaid. But Trump quickly pushed back in a follow-up message:
“There will be NO cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid—only to WASTE, FRAUD, and ABUSE,” he declared. “The radical left let these programs rot. We’re fixing it.”

With Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) holding just a slim three-vote margin, the next few weeks could determine the success or failure of a cornerstone of Trump’s second-term agenda.

If the bill is amended and passed by July 4, it would mark a major legislative win—delivering tax relief, fiscal reform, and a bold new direction for America’s economy.
