Democrats Attack The DOJ
President Trump’s Justice Department is making bold moves in New Jersey — and top Democrats aren’t happy.
On Tuesday, Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim slammed the Trump administration after the DOJ removed Desiree Leigh Grace, the temporary successor to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba. Grace was briefly appointed by a federal judge after Habba’s 120-day term expired.
But the DOJ acted swiftly, asserting the President’s authority to appoint his own pick.
Democrats Lash Out After Trump DOJ Reclaims Authority
Booker and Kim accused the Trump administration of “undermining judicial independence” and disregarding the rule of law. But critics say this is just another example of Democrats trying to control the justice system through backroom politics.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche exposed the scheme:
“They pushed out President Trump’s nominee and then installed her deputy, working in coordination with New Jersey’s Democrat senators. But their plan won’t succeed.”
He added that the removal was effective immediately, reinforcing that judicial appointments don’t override the President’s power.
Pam Bondi Defends Trump’s Pick, Calls Out Judicial Politics
Attorney General Pam Bondi defended Habba, blaming “politically motivated judges” for blocking her continued leadership.
Habba had drawn fire after charging Democratic Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Rep. LaMonica McIver in connection with an ICE facility protest. The case against Baraka was later dropped — and now he’s suing.
Still, many on the Right see this as a calculated political hit job.
Trump Allies Say This Is Why the Swamp Fights Back
Despite media spin, supporters say Habba was targeted for doing her job — holding powerful Democrats accountable.
A federal judge may have called her actions a “misstep,” but Trump allies say it’s the price of standing up to corruption in a deeply blue state.
“The American people want justice — not backroom deals,” one source close to the matter said.
What This Means Heading into 2024
With Democrats scrambling to discredit Trump’s legal appointees, this episode proves why President Trump’s second term priorities must include cleaning out partisan influence from the DOJ and restoring trust in federal prosecutors.
This battle is far from over — and New Jersey may be just the beginning.
