Democrats Ordered To Get Out Of The Way
Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., applauded Donald Trump on Monday following the president’s decision to order the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, calling the move a decisive step toward restoring stability in the Western Hemisphere.
Speaking on Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt Tonight, Tuberville said the president’s action demonstrated strong leadership and follow-through.
“We did the right thing. President Trump did the right thing,” Tuberville said.
“Now let’s move forward and get America back to being number one.”
Trump Followed Through After Repeated Warnings
Tuberville noted that President Trump had issued multiple warnings to Maduro over the years, making it clear that remaining in power would come with consequences.
“People are finally realizing something important,” Tuberville said.
“When President Trump says something, he means it.”
The senator argued that Trump’s willingness to act stands in sharp contrast to past administrations that relied on rhetoric without enforcement.
A Return to Law and Order
According to Tuberville, the Maduro operation reflects a broader shift in leadership philosophy.
“We finally have a president who believes in law and order,” he said.
“Democrats don’t believe in that. They’re comfortable with confusion and disorder.”
Tuberville said Americans have seen the effects of weak enforcement policies both domestically and internationally — and voters demanded a change.
Securing the Western Hemisphere
Looking ahead, Tuberville warned that instability in nearby nations could pose serious risks if ignored. He specifically referenced Colombia and Cuba as countries the U.S. must monitor closely.
“We need a safe hemisphere,” Tuberville said.
“That’s how you protect the American people.”
He added that Trump is addressing problems previous leaders allowed to grow unchecked.
“President Trump is cleaning up a mess,” Tuberville said.
“Democrats should step aside and let him do his job.”
Venezuela Must Have Free and Fair Elections
Tuberville also rejected the idea that Venezuela’s current interim leadership should remain in place, criticizing Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who is serving as acting president.
“She’s just as corrupt,” Tuberville said.
“This system has to be cleaned up from top to bottom.”
While acknowledging the situation remains complex, Tuberville said he trusts Trump’s ultimate objective.
“I don’t know every step he’ll take,” he said,
“but I do know this — President Trump will make sure the Venezuelan people get a free and fair election and the chance to choose their own leader.”
