Musk Thanks Trump

Conservative Tech Icon Says Trump’s Fight Against Government Waste Will Continue

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk publicly thanked President Donald Trump on Wednesday as his term as a Special Government Employee came to a close—marking the end of his time leading the White House’s boldest cost-cutting initiative, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Posting to his platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk expressed gratitude for the chance to help reduce the federal deficit and rein in wasteful government spending—a top priority for conservative Americans. “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote.

He added, “The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.” DOGE, under Trump’s leadership, aimed to slash unnecessary bureaucracy and trim federal bloat—issues long overlooked by Washington insiders.

Musk’s Mission: Smaller Government, Bigger Innovation

Musk, whose government role was capped at 130 workdays, served closely alongside President Trump in the early months of the administration. His efforts helped bring private-sector innovation to bloated government systems—saving taxpayer dollars and bringing accountability back to D.C.

A White House official confirmed offboarding began Wednesday evening, adding that Musk’s role had always been part of a time-limited initiative.

Back to Business: Tesla, SpaceX, xAI Take Center Stage

With his time in government wrapping up, Musk announced he is shifting his full attention back to his businesses—Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, and X. In a post, he shared that he’s “back to working around the clock and sleeping wherever necessary—whether it’s a conference room, server room, or factory floor.” He added that his priority now is to stay laser-focused on major upcoming developments across X, xAI, and Tesla, including an upcoming Starship launch.

Markets responded quickly. On Tuesday, Tesla shares surged at the opening bell—investors welcomed Musk’s renewed focus on private-sector breakthroughs.

Musk Raises Concern Over Massive Spending Bill

While Musk voiced appreciation for Trump’s leadership, he expressed concern about the administration’s latest tax and spending bill, calling it a setback for fiscal conservatives. In a teaser clip from an upcoming CBS Sunday Morning interview, Musk said:

“I was honestly disappointed by the sheer size of the spending package—it adds to the national deficit and really sets back the progress the DOGE team has made.”

The bill—intended to overhaul the tax code—has sparked debate among conservatives who worry it could grow the national debt, despite Trump’s pledges of economic reform.

Trump Responds: “It’s Big, Beautiful—and We’re Still Negotiating”

When asked about Musk’s concerns, President Trump stood firm. “We will be negotiating that bill, and I’m not happy about certain aspects of it, but I’m thrilled by other aspects,” he said. “That’s the way it goes. It’s very big—it’s the big, beautiful—but the beautiful is because of all the things that we have.”

Trump’s tax reform package is expected to drive growth, cut red tape, and support middle-class families—cornerstones of his economic vision for America’s future.

Bottom Line: Elon Musk may be stepping back from government duties, but his impact—and his alignment with Trump’s vision for a leaner, smarter government—is far from over.
