Trump Creating New Military Zone
El Paso, TX — The Trump administration has announced a major expansion of military involvement along the southern border, designating a second National Defense Area in Texas to stop the surge of illegal immigration.
The new military zone is tied to Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso and will serve as a federally protected area where U.S. troops are now authorized to detain illegal border crossers. Migrants caught in the zone will face federal prosecution for illegal entry and trespassing on military property.
“This second National Defense Area strengthens our ability to defend American soil and disrupt illegal activity along the southern border,” said Gen. Gregory Guillot, Commander of U.S. Northern Command.
Trump’s Border Strategy: Security Through Strength
This move follows last month’s successful military zone established in New Mexico, extending the reach of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Huachuca over a 170-mile stretch. In both zones, military oversight allows for rapid response and increased control in areas historically overwhelmed by illegal immigration.
While the Pentagon hasn’t released the size of the Texas zone, the message is clear: The Trump administration is using every legal tool to secure the border.
Breaking Free from Obsolete Laws
For decades, the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act has limited military involvement in domestic law enforcement. But under President Trump’s leadership, these military enforcement zones provide a legal workaround to allow our troops to protect national security interests at the border.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth put it bluntly during a visit to New Mexico:
“If you enter this zone illegally, you’re on a U.S. military installation. You will be stopped — by troops and Border Patrol alike.”
Arrests Plummet Under Trump’s Tough Enforcement
Since the return of President Trump to the White House, illegal border crossings have dropped to the lowest levels in nearly 60 years. With the military now taking a front-line role, this administration is sending a strong message to the world: America’s borders are not open for abuse.
