Trump Border Czar Clears Up The Rumors

President Donald Trump’s former ICE Director, Tom Homan, is firing back after left-leaning media outlets and a Biden-appointed judge distorted his recent comments on immigration enforcement. Homan, a trusted voice on border security, made it clear: federal agents are trained, professional, and operating within the law—despite growing interference from activist judges.

In a Sunday appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Homan addressed the firestorm stirred by his earlier remarks about how Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol operate in the field. “Let me be clear—my words were taken out of context,” Homan said. “A person’s appearance alone is not enough to justify a detention. It must be one factor among many—like behavior, location, or known gang affiliation, such as MS-13 tattoos.”

He emphasized that ICE agents are among the most well-trained law enforcement officers in the nation, receiving mandatory constitutional training every six months. “They’re reminded of their Fourth Amendment responsibilities regularly,” Homan explained. “They understand the difference between suspicion and probable cause.”

The controversy came after Homan told Fox & Friends that ICE and Border Patrol officers do not need probable cause to initiate brief stops. “People need to understand how the law works,” he said. “Agents make observations—where someone is, what they’re doing, how they’re behaving. All of that contributes to reasonable suspicion.”

These remarks were twisted by mainstream media and immediately followed by a ruling from U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong—an appointee of President Joe Biden—who issued two temporary restraining orders limiting immigration enforcement in parts of California. The ruling prohibits targeting individuals based on race, language, or job type and requires the Department of Homeland Security to offer legal counsel access to detainees.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem didn’t hold back. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, she slammed the judge’s decision as a dangerous overstep. “This ruling is absolutely ridiculous. ICE has never operated that way,” Noem said. “What we’re seeing across America is judicial activism at its worst. It’s not a judge’s job to run immigration policy.”

Noem warned that these types of rulings are part of a broader pattern of liberal judges undermining law and order. “We need to restore dignity and purpose to the bench,” she added. “Because right now, many of these federal judges are more focused on pushing a political agenda than upholding the Constitution.”

As President Trump continues to fight for strong borders, lawful immigration, and national sovereignty, the American people are once again witnessing how the radical left weaponizes the courts to protect illegal immigration—at the expense of public safety and national security.
