Trump Team Delivers New Tariff Update
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed Sunday that President Donald Trump will not allow any more delays in enforcing his long-planned tariffs. The deadline? August 1st — no exceptions.
“No extensions. No more grace periods. August 1, the tariffs are set,” Lutnick declared on Fox News Sunday.
Starting that day, U.S. Customs will begin collecting billions in new tariffs on imported goods from nations that failed to strike fair trade deals. It’s a bold move — one aimed at leveling the playing field for American workers, manufacturers, and energy producers.
Trump Keeps Door Open, But Pressure Is On
Despite the tough stance, Lutnick made it clear: President Trump is still willing to negotiate.
“After August 1, countries can still talk to President Trump,” Lutnick said. “He’s always willing to listen — if they bring serious offers.”
Trump remains in active talks with several global leaders before the cutoff, especially the world’s biggest economies.
“Whether they can make him happy is another question,” Lutnick added with a chuckle.
Massive U.S.-EU Trade Deal: $750 Billion Energy Purchase Secured
Just hours later, Trump unveiled a major victory: a new trade agreement with the European Union. The deal slashes proposed tariffs from 30% down to 15% on European imports, including automobiles.
Even more impressive? The EU agreed to:
- Buy $750 billion in American energy, boosting U.S. oil and gas industries.
- Invest an additional $600 billion in U.S. goods — a win for domestic jobs and supply chains.
This landmark deal avoids a trade war while strengthening America’s economic and energy independence.
America First Means Business
Earlier this month, President Trump made headlines by posting warning letters to more than a dozen nations. Each letter made it crystal clear: tariffs will hit hard starting August 1 if fair deals aren’t made.
The president had already paused the first round of tariffs back in April, offering a 90-day window for negotiation. He even granted an extra few weeks — but the grace period is over.
Now, under the banner of “America First,” President Trump is proving he means business.
With record foreign investment, booming energy exports, and a growing manufacturing sector, many believe Trump’s trade strategy is working — and the world is finally paying attention.
