Trump Supporters Sound Off On Medicare
Americans across the political spectrum—including President Trump’s loyal base—are making one thing clear: they want lower prescription drug prices, not cuts to essential programs like Medicaid.
As hardworking American families grapple with rising healthcare costs, a new poll conducted by Fabrizio Ward for Arnold Ventures reveals a powerful message: 88% of voters believe it is “very important” or “fairly important” for the government to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices. Only 4% said it was “not that important.”
Trump Voters, Swing Voters, and Seniors Demand Action
Support runs strong across all demographics:
- 86% of Trump voters support government action to negotiate lower drug prices.
- 87% of swing voters back these efforts.
- Even among former Kamala Harris voters, 92% agree.
When it comes to defending Medicare drug price negotiations in court, voters continue to stand firmly behind President Trump, including 86% of his voters, 83% of swing voters, and 87% of Harris voters.
Americans Reject Medicaid Cuts, Favor Lower Pharmaceutical Costs
When asked about budget priorities, voters showed overwhelming support for putting American families first:
- 78% of voters said they would rather achieve tax relief through lower pharmaceutical costs than by cutting Medicaid.
- Among Trump voters, 71% prefer cutting drug prices, while only 16% support Medicaid reductions.
- Harris voters are even more opposed to Medicaid cuts, with 86% favoring lower drug costs.
The results are a clear warning to politicians considering cuts to health care: voters demand protection for seniors, working families, and those who rely on Medicare and Medicaid.
Defending Seniors, Lowering Costs, and Protecting Medicare
Mark E. Miller, executive vice president of health care at Arnold Ventures, stated, “Drug prices are too high. This is not a partisan issue—Americans from all walks of life are demanding action.“
He added that Congress must protect Medicare negotiations, expand efforts to lower prescription costs, and deliver real savings for American consumers.
Trump’s Agenda: Protect Families, Lower Prices, Defend Health Care
The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters nationwide and an additional 1,000 voters from 18 battleground congressional districts—areas considered “toss-ups” by the Cook Political Report. Conducted between March 19 and March 24, the survey carries a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points.
As House Republicans return from recess, they face the tough task of identifying $1.5 trillion in spending reductions to advance President Trump’s America First agenda. While many support common-sense budget reforms, at least a dozen GOP lawmakers from competitive districts have voiced strong opposition to any plan that cuts into Medicaid.
The message from voters is undeniable: America must prioritize lower drug prices, defend Medicare, and stand up for hardworking families and seniors.
