Vance Stunned By Court Order
Washington, D.C. — Vice President J.D. Vance is pushing back hard after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to issue full SNAP benefits for November, calling the decision “an outrageous overreach” by the courts during a Democrat-caused government shutdown.
“It’s an absurd ruling,” Vance said during a White House roundtable with Central Asian leaders. “You’ve got a federal judge telling President Trump how to spend taxpayer dollars in the middle of a Democrat shutdown. That’s not how our government is supposed to work.”
Vance said the administration’s top priority is protecting military families, securing air travel, and keeping America safe — not bowing to politically motivated rulings.
“If Democrats want to fund food programs, they can reopen the government,” Vance added. “We’re ready to work, but not under the thumb of activist judges trying to run the executive branch.”
Judge’s Order Sparks White House Response
Earlier Thursday, U.S. District Judge John McConnell struck down the administration’s plan to provide partial SNAP payments, demanding that full benefits be issued regardless of the shutdown. The Justice Department immediately filed an appeal, warning the order undermines fiscal responsibility and separation of powers.
According to the White House, the administration has already tapped into a $5 billion SNAP contingency fund, but that covers only part of the $9 billion needed for full November benefits.
Trump Administration Defends Responsible Spending
Officials say President Trump remains focused on lawful spending priorities — ensuring military paychecks, maintaining air traffic safety, and protecting vulnerable mothers and children through essential nutrition programs.
“Democrats have created this crisis,” a senior White House aide told reporters. “They refuse to negotiate, and now they want the courts to do their dirty work. That’s not leadership — that’s sabotage.”
Vance: ‘We’ll Follow the Law, Not Activist Agendas’
Vance said the White House will continue to operate “according to the law and common sense,” even as Democrats use the shutdown to score political points.
“The American people deserve a government that works for them — not one hijacked by judges and political games,” Vance said.
With millions of families depending on food assistance, the administration insists it will protect taxpayers, defend the Constitution, and keep vital programs running — even under Democrat obstruction.
