GOP Launches New Social Media
The Republican Party officially launched a new TikTok account on Friday, marking a notable expansion of its digital outreach strategy and highlighting the growing political importance of social media platforms.
The account, titled “Republicans,” quickly attracted several thousand followers within its first day. Its profile encourages supporters to stay connected by texting “MAGA” to a campaign number, reinforcing the party’s long-standing Make America Great Again message.
The page currently features one introductory video — a patriotic montage showing President Donald Trump boarding Air Force One, delivering remarks from the Oval Office, and appearing at campaign events across the country. The video is interspersed with images of the American flag and is captioned, “The silent majority is silent no longer.”
The timing of the GOP’s launch is notable. It came just one day after former Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris rebranded her campaign-era social media account, previously known as KamalaHQ.
Harris renamed the account “Headquarters,” which already has more than one million followers. In a short video announcement, she said the page would serve as a central hub to engage younger voters and coordinate online activism ahead of upcoming elections.
One strategist involved in Harris’s digital efforts said the relaunch is intended to counter conservative political messaging online. In a televised interview, he described Republican and MAGA-aligned media efforts as highly organized and consistent across major platforms.
According to the strategist, Democratic campaigns plan to increase collaboration with candidates, social media creators, and large online news pages in an effort to expand their digital reach.
The back-to-back launches reflect how social media platforms like TikTok are increasingly viewed as essential tools in modern political campaigns. What was once considered a space for entertainment is now a major arena for shaping political narratives, mobilizing voters, and influencing national conversations.
