Top Democrat Calls Kamala A Liar

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) is now at the center of a growing Democratic feud after sharply criticizing former Vice President Kamala Harris for what he calls false and self-serving claims in her new memoir, 107 Days. Shapiro suggested Harris is rewriting history to protect her political legacy after a failed campaign and a loss to President Donald Trump in a crucial swing state.

Shapiro’s comments were revealed in a new profile published by The Atlantic, where he openly pushed back on Harris’s version of their private conversations.

Shapiro Says Harris Fabricated Stories to “Sell Books”

According to reporter Tim Alberta, Shapiro became visibly frustrated when confronted with Harris’s portrayal of him during her search for a running mate. Harris claims he tried to dominate their interview, insisted on being involved in “every decision,” and asked unusual questions about the vice president’s residence.

Shapiro flatly denied her account.

“That’s complete nonsense,” he said. “Her stories are blatant lies.”

Alberta reported that Shapiro momentarily snapped when asked if he felt betrayed.
“She’s trying to sell books and protect herself,” he said before correcting himself. “She’s trying to sell books. Period.”

Harris passed on Shapiro and ultimately chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as her running mate.

Democrats Lost Pennsylvania to Trump — and Shapiro Is Blaming His Own Party

The political tension doesn’t stop there. Shapiro also criticized the Democratic Party for losing Pennsylvania — a must-win battleground — to President Trump. Trump carried the state with just over 50 percent of the vote, while Harris failed to reach 49 percent.

Shapiro said Democrats lost touch with everyday voters: “Democrats failed to show up, and they failed to treat people with respect,” he told Alberta.

Shapiro also acknowledged something many conservatives have long pointed out:
Donald Trump has a rare cultural connection with voters that Democrats still don’t understand.

Shapiro Previously Questioned Biden’s Fitness to Run

This is not Shapiro’s first break from Democrat leadership. Months earlier, he openly questioned President Biden’s physical stamina and readiness for another term. Biden eventually dropped out, but Shapiro later criticized Harris for refusing to address Biden’s withdrawal publicly.

On Stephen A. Smith’s SiriusXM show, Shapiro said: “I was direct with them. I told them my concerns.”

At the time, he had not yet read Harris’s book.

Harris’s Memoir Upsets More Democrats: Buttigieg and Newsom Push Back

Harris’s book is already generating backlash among high-profile Democrats.

► Pete Buttigieg

Harris wrote that Buttigieg was her first choice for a running mate but claimed their ticket would have been “too risky.”

Buttigieg said he was “surprised” to see that in print.

► Gavin Newsom

Harris also described an awkward exchange with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying he brushed her off with a text saying, “Hiking. Will call back,” when she sought his endorsement.

Newsom later told Meet the Press he has no idea why she included that story at all.

He said he endorsed her minutes later and added: “The last person she needs an endorsement from is me.”

Democrats Already Positioning for the 2028 Race

With President Trump back in the White House and Democrats visibly divided, the 2028 election cycle is already taking shape.

Names widely mentioned include:

  • Kamala Harris
  • Josh Shapiro
  • Gavin Newsom
  • Pete Buttigieg

But Harris’s memoir appears to have created more internal resentment than momentum. Meanwhile, Trump’s support in states like Pennsylvania highlights just how fractured Democrats have become.
