Governor Attacks Trump Again
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) is taking shots at President Trump’s bold decision to send the National Guard into Washington, D.C., calling the move “performative” — despite the fact that crime in the nation’s capital is finally dropping.
In an interview on ABC’s This Week, Moore admitted Baltimore and other cities are still battling dangerous crime waves. But instead of supporting Trump’s law-and-order approach, Moore dismissed the Guard as unnecessary.
“I would love more federal support, but federal support on things that actually make sense and not things that are performative,” Moore said. He went on to claim that the National Guard “is not even trained” for city policing — suggesting more money should go to local agencies and community organizations instead.
Trump’s Approach Is Delivering Results
The comments came just as D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser admitted Trump’s deployment has worked. Robberies and carjackings — crimes that have plagued Washington for years — are down significantly since the Guard hit the streets.
Moore downplayed the success, arguing the deployment costs more than $1 million a day and is “not sustainable.” Instead, he called for taxpayer money to be funneled into “community groups” rather than putting boots on the ground to restore order.
A Clear Divide on Law and Order
Moore, a Democrat eyeing a 2028 presidential run, is positioning himself against Trump’s tough-on-crime strategy. His stance reflects the growing divide: Republicans like President Trump are focused on immediate action to keep Americans safe, while Democrats continue to push softer, long-term “social program” solutions.
Critics argue that calling the Guard “performative” ignores the real results families in D.C. are seeing — safer streets, fewer carjackings, and a stronger sense of security. For many, Trump’s leadership is delivering where Democrats’ rhetoric has failed.
Bottom Line
As crime continues to impact American families, voters are left with a clear choice: President Trump’s law-and-order strategy that puts criminals on notice, or Democrat leaders like Wes Moore who dismiss proven results as “performative.”
