Trump, MAGA Hater Apologizes
Author Stephen King faced massive backlash Friday after spreading a false and inflammatory claim about conservative activist Charlie Kirk in the hours following Kirk’s shocking assassination.
Stephen King’s False Attack on Charlie Kirk
The controversy began late Thursday when King, known for his sharp criticism of President Donald Trump and conservative Americans, made a now-deleted post on X falsely claiming Kirk had once “advocated stoning gays to death.”
King’s smear came just hours after Kirk, the co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, a crime that has stunned conservatives across the country.
Fox News host Jesse Watters paid tribute to Kirk on social media, saying Kirk was not a divisive figure but a true patriot. He called Kirk’s death a pivotal moment for the country and urged Americans to move in the right direction, ending his message with, “Rest in peace, my friend.”
Rather than joining in mourning, King lashed out at Kirk with his false claim — triggering a wave of outrage from conservatives and political leaders nationwide.
Sen. Ted Cruz: “You Are a Twisted Liar”
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, immediately blasted King for his post, calling him out directly.
“You are a vile and deceitful liar. That claim is completely false,” Cruz posted on X. “The party you fiercely defend handed $100 billion to Iran, a regime that truly executes homosexuals. Why are you so consumed with dishonesty and hatred?”
King Backtracks After Intense Backlash
By Friday, facing overwhelming criticism, King deleted his original post and issued a public apology.
“I regret falsely claiming that Charlie Kirk supported stoning gays,” King admitted in a later post. “This is what happens when you see something online and don’t verify it first. It’s a mistake I won’t make again.”
Cruz acknowledged King’s apology but reminded Americans of the importance of respect and decency — values Kirk himself lived by.
“I appreciate that @StephenKing deleted the false tweet and apologized,” Cruz said.
“All of us — no matter our political differences — should treat each other with respect and decency. Charlie did that every day, and I admired him for it.”
Far-Left Activists Celebrate Kirk’s Murder
King’s retraction did little to calm the storm, as other far-left figures openly celebrated Kirk’s assassination.
Author Gretchen Felker-Martin, best known for a 2022 transgender-themed horror novel, posted shocking remarks on BlueSky, reportedly writing: “Thoughts and prayers you Nazi [expletive],” and, “Hope the bullet’s okay after touching Charlie Kirk.”
The backlash was swift. DC Comics canceled Felker-Martin’s upcoming “Red Hood” series, citing her grotesque comments.
Instead of apologizing, Felker-Martin doubled down, telling The Comics Journal she felt “nothing but contempt” for Kirk and had no regrets.
MSNBC Analyst Fired After Blaming Kirk
The fallout didn’t stop there. MSNBC fired political analyst Matthew Dowd on Thursday after he appeared to blame Kirk for his own murder during an on-air segment.
“Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which ultimately lead to hateful actions,” Dowd said, while suggesting Kirk’s rhetoric needed scrutiny.
He later repeated the sentiment on X, sparking fury among viewers and leading to his immediate dismissal from the network.
A Divided Nation Reacts
Kirk’s assassination — and the disturbing response from some on the Left — has exposed deep political and cultural divisions in America.
While conservatives across the country mourn the loss of a patriot who championed faith, family, and freedom, radical activists and commentators continue to fan the flames of hatred, even in the face of tragedy.
This tragic event serves as a chilling reminder of what happens when political violence is excused — and when influential voices spread falsehoods and division during a time when Americans most need unity.
