Ocasio-Cortez For President?
In a startling prediction that’s sparking serious discussion, political insider and Trump adviser Dick Morris told Newsmax that the Democrat Party may be preparing to make a drastic — and disastrous — move in 2028.
During an interview on Newsmax’s The Count, Morris warned that radical New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could become the Democratic nominee for president.
“If they nominate AOC, she’ll be obliterated by Republicans in a national election,” Morris said bluntly. “It would be a historic landslide.”
According to Morris, the Democrat Party is crumbling from the inside after the overwhelming defeat of Kamala Harris by President Donald Trump. Millions of moderate and working-class voters, especially seniors and independents, are abandoning the left’s extreme agenda.
Radical Shift: Democrat Party Losing the Center
“Just like in the 1970s and ‘80s, when Democrats lost touch with everyday Americans, we’re seeing the same collapse today,” Morris explained. “After Nixon’s win in 1968, the left doubled down and nominated George McGovern — and got crushed. The same happened when Reagan trounced Jimmy Carter.”
As Morris pointed out, it wasn’t until Bill Clinton brought the party closer to the center that Democrats became nationally competitive again.
“Now, after Kamala’s defeat, the only people left in the party are the far-left activists — the fringe,” Morris said. “Moderates are walking away, and what’s left? The radicals.”
This growing divide inside the Democratic Party, Morris said, is paving the way for extremists to seize control of the nomination process. That includes names like AOC — a figure beloved by socialists and climate activists but wildly out of step with the majority of Americans.
“The Lunatics Are Running the Asylum”
Morris didn’t hold back.
“It’s not just likely — it’s very possible AOC beats moderates like Gavin Newsom or Rahm Emanuel for the nomination,” he said. “Because the party base is no longer mainstream America. It’s the loudest, most radical voices who now dominate.”
He concluded with a clear warning for voters: “The lunatics are running the asylum.”
