Americans Lose Faith In Both Parties?
A recent national poll reveals a sharp decline in public trust in political leadership — and Democrats are taking the biggest hit.
According to the latest CNN/SSRS survey, 43% of Americans now believe neither major party has strong leadership. That’s a major warning sign of discontent with Washington insiders and a growing sense that the political establishment is failing everyday Americans.
But the Republican Party still stands out as the stronger alternative. 40% of respondents say the GOP is the party of strong leaders, compared to a mere 16% who say the same about Democrats. Among registered voters, Republicans pulled ahead with 44% identifying the GOP as having strong leadership, while just 15% sided with Democrats.
For older, values-driven Americans concerned about the direction of the country, these numbers reflect what many have already sensed: Democratic leadership is in free fall.
Back in 2006, only 10% of voters said neither party had strong leaders. That number has quadrupled, reflecting deep frustration with the political elite. At that time, 49% trusted Republicans to lead, compared to 35% for Democrats. The contrast in today’s data is staggering — Democrat trust has collapsed.
This poll also lands amid growing controversy surrounding President Joe Biden’s reported mental and physical decline. According to recent reporting, Biden’s inner circle allegedly concealed his condition from the public, even as he launched his 2024 reelection campaign. These revelations have sparked serious concerns about transparency, competence, and national security.
Meanwhile, under President Trump’s leadership, the Republican Party now controls the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives, setting the stage for a stronger, more stable path forward — grounded in law and order, economic freedom, and American values.
The survey, conducted from May 5 to May 26, included 2,539 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of ±2.7 percentage points.
