Trump Team Thanks Democrats
Vice President JD Vance is giving credit to the few Democrats who put country over politics and helped President Trump reopen the government after the longest shutdown in American history.
Speaking on Fox News with Sean Hannity, Vance highlighted how the administration had been pushing for a reasonable solution from the very beginning—long before the shutdown spiraled due to far-left obstruction.
Vance: “Moderate Democrats Did the Right Thing for the Country”
“I give a lot of credit to the moderate Democrats who were with us from the start,” Vance told Hannity.
He reminded viewers that the original bill to keep the government funded had 52 Republican senators and three Democrats on board, all of whom understood what was best for American workers, military personnel, and taxpayers.
“These Democrats recognized where this was going,” he said. “They understood the stakes, and they acted responsibly.”
Vance Slams Far-Left Democrats for ‘Burn It All Down’ Politics
Vance then contrasted these moderates with the extreme voices controlling today’s Democratic Party.
“There are so many far-left activists running the Democratic Party in Washington,” Vance warned.
“They don’t care if our troops don’t get paid. They don’t care if billions are lost in productivity. They were even willing to risk shutting down the airline industry. Their only mission is to stop President Trump—even if they have to burn the entire country down to do it.”
For older voters who lived through past shutdowns, Vance’s warning underscored how extreme Washington politics have become.
Government Reopens After 42 Days—President Trump Signs the Deal
President Trump officially reopened the federal government after 42 days, marking the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
The breakthrough happened only after eight senators—seven Democrats and one independent—broke ranks and voted with Republicans to restore government operations.
The sticking point for Democrats was continued funding for ObamaCare subsidies, but the bipartisan group agreed to move forward after Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) committed to holding a future vote on the issue.
Progressives Furious as Bipartisan Coalition Helps End the Shutdown
The far-left faction of the Democratic Party reacted with outrage, attacking the moderates who chose to stand with Republicans and end the crisis.
They were especially furious that the deal did not guarantee long-term extensions of ObamaCare subsidies beyond their end-of-year expiration.
On the House side, six Democrats joined Republicans to approve the funding bill, sending it to President Trump’s desk and finally reopening the U.S. government.
A Major Win for President Trump’s Leadership
For conservatives and independent voters alike, the outcome underscored President Trump’s ability to build coalitions—even in a deeply divided Washington.
Vance’s remarks made it clear: When the far left tried to keep the government shut down, it was moderate Democrats who broke with their party and helped the Trump administration put Americans first.
