Trump Official Speaks On Musk Fight

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is focused on results—not rivalries.

In a new podcast interview with New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, Bessent downplayed media reports of a personal rift with tech billionaire Elon Musk, calling their disagreements a matter of “style, not substance.”

“Yes, we’ve disagreed,” Bessent said. “But we both want to eliminate the fraud, waste, and abuse that’s draining American taxpayers.”

Two Leaders, Two Styles—One Mission: Drain the Swamp

Comparing their approaches, Bessent described Musk as someone who represents Silicon Valley’s “move fast and break things” attitude, while casting himself as more strategic and steady.

“Elon sees himself as a Viking,” Bessent remarked. “I see myself more as a ninja—precise, disciplined, and focused on fixing things.”

Fallout With Trump? Bessent Says Focus Remains on Results

Following a high-profile disagreement between Musk and President Trump earlier this month, rumors of a heated confrontation involving Trump ally Steve Bannon began circulating. Some reports even claimed the dispute got physical—claims the White House firmly denied.

Bessent dismissed the drama.

“Look, everyone involved is passionate about delivering results for President Trump and the American people,” he said.

DOGE Reform: Saving Taxpayer Dollars and Restoring Trust

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), spearheaded by Bessent under Trump’s leadership, has become a cornerstone of the administration’s effort to rein in runaway federal spending.

While some claimed Bessent called Musk a “total fraud,” the Treasury Secretary denied the accusation. Still, he delivered a subtle jab during a recent congressional hearing when asked about their reported clash.

“I’ll take South Carolina over South Africa any day,” Bessent said—an apparent reference to Musk’s foreign birth.

Musk Steps Down—But DOGE Momentum Keeps Building

Musk formally exited his advisory role at the end of May, following a public dispute over President Trump’s proposed infrastructure and defense spending bill—widely popular among patriotic Americans.

Though Musk later admitted his remarks “went too far,” President Trump has not indicated any interest in patching things up.

Bessent, however, emphasized that the mission continues.

“DOGE is more than a department—it’s an American ethos. Even with Elon gone, the reforms we started will lead to even greater savings.”

America-First Leadership That Delivers

As Washington elites and tech billionaires bicker, Bessent and the Trump administration are laser-focused on delivering real results—lowering spending, increasing accountability, and putting America First.

“We’re working every day to restore trust in government, protect taxpayer dollars, and strengthen this great nation,” Bessent said. “That’s what matters.”
