California Democrats Celebrate Trump Loss
California Democrats are celebrating after a federal judge blocked President Donald Trump’s use of U.S. military troops in Los Angeles, a move the White House argued was essential to restore law and order during violent immigration protests.
Federal Judge Rules Against Trump’s Authority
U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer issued a 52-page ruling that barred the Defense Department from deploying Marines and the National Guard to support local law enforcement. The order gives the Trump administration until next week to appeal.
The White House pushed back immediately. Spokeswoman Anna Kelly warned the decision was a dangerous precedent, saying:
“A rogue judge is trying to strip the Commander-in-Chief of his constitutional authority to protect American cities from violence and destruction.”
Trump Defends His Law-and-Order Approach
President Trump has defended the use of National Guard troops, arguing the deployment was critical to immigration enforcement and to stop Los Angeles from “burning to the ground” amid riots.
Although most Guard units have since been pulled back, Trump deployed troops to Washington, D.C. in August to address rising crime — and has hinted that Chicago could be next.
California Democrats Praise the Ruling
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) hailed the decision as a victory, claiming:
“No president is a king — not even Trump. He cannot trample on a state’s right to govern itself.”
Newsom went further, arguing that crime is worse in Republican states, despite California’s ongoing struggles with homelessness, drugs, and violent crime.
Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) called Trump’s actions “political theater,” while Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said the president’s military use was “unlawful and unjustified.”
Federal Officials Fire Back
Trump officials insist the accusations are false. Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli stressed that federal troops never acted as local police:
“The military has not engaged in direct law enforcement in Los Angeles. They are protecting federal workers and federal property from violent mobs encouraged by California politicians.”
The Bigger Picture: Law and Order vs. Judicial Activism
This ruling underscores the ongoing clash between President Trump’s law-and-order agenda and California Democrats’ resistance on immigration and crime.
For conservatives, the decision represents yet another case of judicial activism and left-wing leaders prioritizing illegal immigrants over public safety. For Trump supporters, it highlights why America needs strong leadership willing to stand up against both mob violence and activist judges.
