Former Trump Advisor Makes Interesting Prediction
Former National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien says Russian President Vladimir Putin will walk away from next month’s historic Alaska summit with President Donald Trump as “the loser” — and that Ukraine must secure rock-solid protection in any peace deal.
O’Brien, who served under Trump during his first term, told CNN’s Jessica Dean that Putin’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine has been a “total failure” for the Kremlin. He emphasized that while Trump is gracious and skilled in diplomacy, “Putin’s gonna walk out of this a loser.”
The White House revealed Friday that Trump’s meeting with Putin will focus on ending the war in Ukraine and restoring stability in Eastern Europe. Trump confirmed the possibility of limited territorial adjustments between Russia and Ukraine, an idea that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky immediately rejected, declaring, “We will not give Russia any rewards for what it has done. The Ukrainian people deserve peace.”
Insiders say Zelensky may be invited to the Alaska talks, with Trump open to hosting a high-stakes, three-way summit aimed at securing a breakthrough.
Reports indicate that during a meeting in Moscow on Wednesday, Putin offered Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff a ceasefire proposal. It would have Ukrainian troops withdraw from the Donetsk region, leaving Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea under Russian control.
O’Brien, now chairman of American Global Strategies LLC, downplayed the need for Zelensky’s direct participation in Alaska, pointing out that “President Trump has met with Zelensky many times before, including at the Vatican.”
For many conservatives, this summit represents a defining moment — a chance for Trump to reassert American leadership, broker peace without endless war, and ensure that Russia’s aggression does not go unchallenged.
