Supreme Court Gets Defunded?

Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court has issued an urgent warning: it will run out of money within days as the Biden-era government shutdown continues to wreak havoc on America’s most vital institutions.

According to Patricia McCabe, the Court’s Public Information Officer, the Supreme Court expects to exhaust its funding by October 18, forcing the building to close to the public until further notice. “The Supreme Court Building will remain open for official business,” McCabe said, confirming that essential work such as hearings, opinions, and filings will continue.

⚖️ Federal Courts Bracing for Collapse

It’s not just the Supreme Court on the brink. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts announced that federal court funding nationwide will dry up by October 20. Judges will continue fulfilling their constitutional duties, but thousands of court staff members will face furloughs without pay.

Only “excepted” duties — such as protecting human life and property — will continue under the Anti-Deficiency Act. Those performing essential work will do so without paychecks, a stark reminder of how Washington’s political gridlock punishes ordinary Americans first.

💸 Jury Programs and Court Access Hanging by a Thread

While jury programs will stay operational and the PACER online system for court filings remains active, every other function will be limited to what little emergency funds are left. Some courts may delay entire cases as resources vanish.

Each of the 94 federal judicial districts must now decide which cases can proceed and which must be halted, depending on available staffing and funding.

🔥 A Shutdown Fueled by Partisan Stalemate

This shutdown — now stretching over two weeks since October 1 — shows no end in sight. Democrats continue to block Republican efforts to fund the government because the House GOP bill does not include new Obamacare subsidies set to expire this year.

Republicans have proposed responsible spending and targeted funding measures to keep critical operations afloat. But Democrat leaders are demanding more taxpayer spending and expanded federal programs, even as America’s courts, service members, and seniors face mounting uncertainty.

🇺🇸 What’s Next for America’s Justice System?

If funding isn’t restored soon, even the Supreme Court — the symbol of America’s constitutional strength — could be forced to operate on bare-bones resources. The situation underscores the deep divisions in Washington and the growing sense that America’s institutions are being held hostage by partisan politics.

The question now: how much longer can the nation’s justice system endure Biden’s shutdown chaos?
