What’s going on with Clinton?
Former President Bill Clinton is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. At 79 years old, Clinton was recently spotted in the Hamptons with what appeared to be a portable defibrillator carried by an aide — fueling fresh speculation about his declining health.
The photos, obtained by the New York Post, show someone walking alongside Clinton and his wife, Hillary, holding what looked like a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag — a device used for monitoring serious heart problems.“ The incident occurred only weeks after Clinton was spotted struggling to keep his balance on a Manhattan sidewalk as he left a book event promoting First Gentleman, the political thriller he authored alongside James Patterson.”
A Troubled Medical History
Clinton’s health struggles are nothing new. In 2004, doctors discovered life-threatening artery blockages and performed an emergency quadruple bypass surgery. At the time, physicians warned he had narrowly avoided a fatal heart attack.
Just six years later, in 2010, Clinton again faced health complications, requiring coronary stents after chest pain returned. In a candid interview with Diane Sawyer, he admitted to ignoring warning signs, saying he had been “insufficiently vigilant” about his health.
Attempts at a Lifestyle Change
Following his surgeries, Clinton drastically changed his diet, shifting toward a near-vegan lifestyle. The move earned him praise from animal rights activists, with PETA even naming him “Person of the Year” in 2010 for promoting plant-based eating.
But despite these efforts, Clinton’s health has remained fragile. He was hospitalized in 2021 with a urinary tract infection, battled COVID-19 in 2022, and endured another hospitalization soon after due to the flu.
From Overindulgence to Fragility
Long before his health problems, Clinton was known for his legendary appetite. Katz’s Delicatessen in New York proudly displayed his go-to order: two hot dogs, a massive pastrami sandwich, fries, diet ginger ale, and decaf coffee.
Today, that image of Clinton as a larger-than-life political figure has faded, replaced by growing concern over his frailty and reliance on medical equipment.
Alarming Questions Ahead
The recent defibrillator sighting has sparked new doubts about Clinton’s ability to maintain his health at nearly 80. With a long history of heart disease and repeated hospitalizations, many are asking: How much longer can Bill Clinton keep up the public appearances?
