Here’s what Americans need to know.

President Trump’s FDA shrimp recall is growing — and it now includes thousands more packages of shrimp sold at Walmart, Kroger, and other grocery stores nationwide. Federal officials say the seafood may be contaminated with cesium-137, a dangerous man-made radioactive material linked to cancer.

FDA Shrimp Recall: What’s Now Included

The Food and Drug Administration announced that the recall has expanded to cover:

  • 26,460 packages of Aquastar cocktail shrimp sold in Walmart stores across 27 states.
  • 18,000 bags of Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail-Off Shrimp, distributed through Kroger and partner grocery chains including Pick ’n Save, Metro Market, Mariano’s, Gerbes, Baker’s, Pay Less Supermarkets, and Jay C.”

These products have specific UPC codes, lot numbers, and expiration dates that shoppers should check immediately.

Radioactive Shrimp at Walmart and Kroger? How It Happened

According to federal officials, the problem started when U.S. Customs and Border Protection discovered radiation during inspections of shrimp shipments from Indonesia.

The FDA confirmed the presence of radioactive cesium-137 in frozen shrimp arriving at major U.S. ports including Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and Savannah.

The supplier, PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods), has since been placed on the FDA’s “red list,” blocking its products from entering the U.S. until the issue is resolved. Walmart’s Great Value raw frozen shrimp is also flagged under the recall.

FDA Health Warning: Risks of Cesium-137

The FDA is urging Americans not to consume any of the recalled products. While no illnesses have been reported yet, the agency warns that eating radioactive shrimp contaminated with cesium-137 can increase the risk of cancer and long-term health problems.

The FDA recommends consumers either dispose of the products immediately or return them for a full refund.

What It Means for Families and Shoppers

For families, this isn’t just another recall — it’s a wake-up call about America’s food safety. Radioactive shrimp found in Walmart and Kroger stores is raising questions about how much Americans can trust foreign imports and the federal agencies responsible for keeping our food safe.

👉 Bottom Line: Check your freezers today. If you bought shrimp at Walmart, Kroger, or affiliated grocery stores, you could be holding onto contaminated seafood. Protect your health, protect your family, and when in doubt — don’t eat it.
