This was out of left field.
A former megachurch youth pastor—now a self-described “progressive Christian activist”—has launched a blistering public attack on President Donald Trump and the millions of Americans who support him, declaring it’s “impossible” to be a good person while backing the 45th president.
John Pavlovitz, once a youth pastor at a North Carolina evangelical church, posted his August 2 Substack blog filled with sharp insults aimed at the MAGA movement. “I often hear people say, ‘He or she supports him but is a really good person.’ I consider that an oxymoron,” Pavlovitz wrote, adding that supporting Trump “is fundamentally antithetical to anything good.”
Pavlovitz has been an outspoken critic of Trump since his 2016 victory, gaining a loyal following in left-wing faith circles. Liberal media have even dubbed him the “digital pastor of the resistance,” a title he appears to embrace while frequently attacking conservatives, Christians, and America First policies.
In his latest rant, Pavlovitz singled out Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, his push for border wall funding, and his cuts to bloated federal agencies—policies that many conservatives see as vital to protecting American sovereignty. He claimed these measures were the opposite of “good,” portraying Trump as “the very worst humanity has produced” and smearing his supporters as morally corrupt.
The former pastor accused Trump voters of harboring “toxic misogyny,” “contempt for people of color,” and “ignorant bigotry”—labels conservatives say are meant to shame and silence anyone who refuses to bow to the far-left agenda.
Pavlovitz has also encouraged people to “cut off” Trump-supporting family members and friends, suggesting they are unworthy of personal relationships. In March, he went further—claiming on social media that the 2024 election was “tampered with,” writing, “She won. The Dems didn’t fight for her. It’s a disgrace.”
For many in the conservative movement, Pavlovitz’s comments are just another reminder of the left’s deep disdain for President Trump, his America First vision, and the millions of patriotic Americans who support him. As the 2024 race heats up, attacks like these only seem to energize the MAGA base and strengthen Trump’s standing among voters who want secure borders, strong leadership, and unapologetic American pride.
