Trump and the GOP have big plans.

Washington, D.C. — House Republicans are racing to deliver a defining victory for President Donald Trump’s second term — a massive legislative package that could be signed into law by Independence Day.

The goal: lock in Trump’s America First agenda with sweeping action on tax relief, border security, energy independence, and spending reform.

“I want the president to sign this big, beautiful bill on July 4th,” said Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. “It will be a major victory for conservative values.”

The legislation is expected to include:

Extending the Trump tax cuts (TCJA)
Eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security
Massive spending cuts to fight inflation
Restoring energy independence by repealing Biden’s green subsidies
Strengthening the southern border and funding national defense

Protecting American Families from a Democrat Tax Hike

Republican leaders warn that if the Trump tax cuts expire this year, millions of Americans could face a tax hike of over 20%. Seniors, working families, and small business owners would be hit the hardest.

“This is about protecting your retirement income, your paycheck, and your future,” said one senior GOP aide.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent outlined Trump’s three-part economic strategy: tax relief, deregulation, and pro-American trade. The tax portion is the costliest — and the most urgent.

Memorial Day or Bust: House Rushes to Finish

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) confirmed the goal is to pass the bill by Memorial Day. If successful, it would give the Senate time to act before the Fourth of July.

“There’s a ton of momentum,” Johnson said. “This is the conservative moment we’ve been preparing for.”

Seven of 11 House committees have completed their work. But three key panels — Energy & Commerce, Ways & Means, and Agriculture — are still resolving issues over Medicaid reforms and green energy tax credits from the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act.

Repealing Biden’s Energy Handouts

While some Republicans from blue states want to keep certain green tax credits, conservatives warn that Biden’s energy policies are undermining U.S. energy dominance.

“These subsidies hurt American jobs, distort the market, and weaken our electric grid,” a GOP letter stated. “It’s time to return to coal, oil, natural gas, and common sense.

Debt Crisis Looms: Urgency Builds

Time is short. The U.S. is expected to hit its debt ceiling this summer. Without action, markets could spiral — and American families would suffer.

That’s why Republicans are using budget reconciliation — a process that allows them to pass key priorities with just 51 votes in the Senate, bypassing Democrat obstruction.

A Historic Opportunity for Conservative Change

If successful, the July 4th signing would mark a turning point in American history — the day President Trump restored prosperity, security, and sanity to Washington.

“This is a moment to fight for our values — for our freedom, our families, and our future,” said Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY). “We can’t afford to wait.”
