This guy is dreaming!
Billionaire Mark Cuban — former Shark Tank investor and loyal Democrat backer — just made headlines with a shocking announcement about the 2028 race. Cuban says he will only run for president if Donald J. Trump himself launches a historic third-term campaign.
Democrats Still in Chaos After 2024 Defeat
Since their crushing loss in 2024, Democrats have been floundering. With no clear leader and no winning message, the party has been desperate for a fresh face. Cuban, who once stumped for Kamala Harris, has been floated by liberal insiders as a possible option.
But when pressed about it on the Semafor podcast, the billionaire shot down the rumors.
“I’m not going to do it,” Cuban declared. “The only way I’d consider it is if Trump tried to run for a third term. That changes everything. That’s a real threat.”
Trump Keeps Everyone Guessing
President Trump, meanwhile, continues to dominate America’s political conversation. He has pointed to Vice President J.D. Vance as his natural successor, but he hasn’t slammed the door shut on a possible return.
“I got the highest vote total in the history of Texas — a record that won’t be broken unless I run again,” Trump told CNBC in August. When asked if he would, Trump replied, “No, probably not. Probably not.”
Cuban Doesn’t Want the Heat
Cuban admitted his real reason for staying out of the fight is personal: he doesn’t want to put his family through the political battlefield.
“I’ve got three kids, and I don’t want to spend my last years saying, ‘Well, I ran for president. Maybe won, maybe didn’t,’” he explained.
Who Does Cuban Want in 2028?
When asked who he would support, Cuban tossed out names like liberal professor Scott Galloway, comedian Jon Stewart, and Texas Rep. James Talarico. But when it came to traditional politicians, he shrugged them off with a single word: “Meh.”
