Here’s what could happen next.
President Donald Trump set the record straight Tuesday, declaring that no American troops will be sent to fight in Ukraine — not now, not ever.
“I give you my guarantee,” Trump said on Fox & Friends. “My goal is to stop the bloodshed. Right now, 5,000 to 7,000 lives are being lost every single week in a war that should never have begun. If America had even an average president — not necessarily a great one, just a competent one — this disaster would have never taken place.”
Trump Demands Peace, Not Endless Wars
Trump explained that his plan is to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy together for direct talks.
“They haven’t exactly been best friends,” he said. “But maybe they’re getting along better than I thought. That’s why I arranged for a one-on-one before moving forward with larger peace discussions.”
He also stressed that Ukraine will not be joining NATO, but said several European nations are preparing NATO-style security guarantees.
Trump’s Record of Strength
Trump drew a sharp contrast with past presidents.
“We brought an end to seven different conflicts. I expected Ukraine to be one of the simpler ones to resolve, but it has turned out to be the most difficult.”
While Biden and Obama got America tangled in costly foreign conflicts, Trump continues to position himself as the leader who can bring peace without sacrificing American lives.
Key White House Meetings
Trump’s remarks came just after hosting Zelenskyy and top NATO leaders at the White House. Days earlier, he met Putin in Alaska and followed up with another call to start shaping the next steps of a peace plan.
For Trump, the message is clear: no reckless troop deployments, no endless wars, and a commitment to peace through strength.
