Well, isn’t this interesting?
A long-forgotten episode of The Apprentice has come back into the spotlight—and it’s creating major headaches for Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer.
As millions of Americans stream President Donald Trump’s iconic reality show on Amazon Prime, many politically aware viewers are noticing a telling moment from 2006. In Season 5, Episode 8, New York Senator Chuck Schumer—now one of Trump’s loudest critics—appeared on the show and spoke glowingly about the man who would one day become the 45th President of the United States.
During a special reward breakfast at the luxurious Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C., Schumer shared his admiration for Trump’s success and work ethic. “Even when he was younger, you could tell he was going to go places,” Schumer said, calling Trump a natural-born leader and business powerhouse. He also pointed out that his own grandfather worked alongside Trump’s father as builders in Brooklyn.
The contestants on The Apprentice were visibly shocked to hear such high praise from a U.S. senator. One participant said the two men “seemed like good friends.”

Fast forward to today, and Chuck Schumer has completely reversed course.
Instead of celebrating Trump’s accomplishments, Schumer now regularly launches personal attacks on the former president. In recent comments, he labeled Trump “lawless” and “angry,” even accusing him of being too weak to hold others accountable. Just this month, Schumer took to social media with another insult, blaming Trump for political division and chaos.
But Americans aren’t buying the sudden change in tone—and neither are members of Schumer’s own party.
“Just watch the clip,” said former Democrat lawmaker Aaron Regunberg. “Schumer was sucking up to Trump on national TV. Now he acts like he’s always been against him. What a world-class fraud.”
Republicans have also taken aim. Michigan State Senate GOP Leader Aric Nesbitt summed up the moment perfectly: “How things change…”
President Trump, always quick to spot political hypocrisy, hasn’t forgotten Schumer’s past praise. Early in his first term, Trump even said he believed he’d “get along well” with Schumer, describing their prior relationship as “close.” But as Schumer became more extreme in his rhetoric, the relationship soured—especially on issues involving Israel and the Jewish community.
In a fiery response to Schumer’s recent silence on antisemitic protests sweeping college campuses, Trump didn’t hold back. “Schumer is a Palestinian, as far as I’m concerned,” he told reporters from the Oval Office. “He used to be Jewish. He’s not Jewish anymore.”
Trump’s blunt remarks come after months of growing outrage from American Jews and Christians alike, many of whom feel abandoned by progressive leaders in the face of rising antisemitism since the Hamas terror attacks on October 7, 2023.
This isn’t the first time a public figure has flip-flopped on Donald Trump. Oprah Winfrey once described him as a “folk hero” in a 1988 interview. Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons praised Trump as “kind” and supportive—before caving to political pressure and turning against his former friend.
The truth is simple: President Trump earned the respect of powerful people long before he stepped into politics. Now that he’s fighting for the American people, those same elites are scrambling to rewrite history.
But the clips don’t lie—and millions of Americans are starting to remember who really stood with Trump before it was politically convenient to attack him.
