WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) made a shocking scene outside the Capitol this week when she lashed out at a reporter who dared to ask about her role in the January 6 security disaster.
The 85-year-old Democrat, appearing frail and visibly unsteady, had to be helped down the Capitol steps before turning and furiously pointing her finger at the journalist.
“Shut up!” Pelosi snapped when asked why she “refused the National Guard” on Jan. 6, 2021. “I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it,” she barked, accusing the reporter of using “Republican talking points.”

🔍 Republicans Say Pelosi Ignored Repeated Security Warnings
A House Republican report from 2022 revealed that top Democrat leaders — including Pelosi — were more concerned about “optics” than security in the days leading up to the riot.
They reportedly feared that having National Guard troops stationed near the Capitol would look bad following the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020.
But recently uncovered video footage, filmed by Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra Pelosi for an HBO documentary, paints a different picture — showing Pelosi admitting fault during the chaos.
“We have totally failed,” Pelosi said in the footage. “Oh my God, I cannot believe the stupidity of this. And I take full responsibility.”
When a top aide asked whether to call in the Guard, Pelosi exploded:
“Why weren’t they there to begin with? They clearly didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not having them prepare for more.”

Under Republican leadership, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) is heading a new House Judiciary subcommittee tasked with uncovering the truth about Pelosi’s security failures and the politically driven January 6 Committee that she herself created.
“While Democrats keep rewriting history, Republicans are focused on the truth,” Loudermilk said. “The American people deserve a full, honest accounting so this kind of security failure never happens again.”
Pelosi’s own committee spent 18 months and 814 pages blaming President Trump, accusing him of a “multi-part conspiracy.”
But critics say Pelosi was the one in charge of Capitol security — and that she rejected multiple offers of additional protection before the riot.
