President Donald Trump is once again putting America First — and this time, he’s rebuilding one of his most iconic promises: the border wall.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) just confirmed $4.5 billion in new contracts to expand and modernize border defenses along the U.S.–Mexico border, marking the largest investment in border security in decades.
🔒 The “Smart Wall” — America’s New Border Defense
These new projects will add over 230 miles of high-tech Smart Wall barriers and nearly 400 miles of upgraded surveillance systems — a massive leap forward in America’s ability to detect, deter, and stop illegal crossings.
Unlike the simple fences of the past, Trump’s Smart Wall merges steel, cameras, sensors, lighting, and patrol roads into one unified security system. The result? Real-time detection, faster response times, and unprecedented control over the southern border.
“This is how you take control of the border,” said CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott.
📉 Border Crossings Hit 55-Year Low Under Trump
DHS data confirms what many already know — illegal crossings have plummeted to their lowest point in more than half a century. Trump’s strict border enforcement policies, decisive leadership, and unwavering support for law enforcement have brought the border crisis under control like never before.
“We now have the most secure border in American history,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. “Our agents are empowered, equipped, and supported — and the results speak for themselves.”
💰 Funded by the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”
The wall expansion is financed through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a signature piece of Trump-era legislation that prioritizes national sovereignty and border defense.
Between September 15 and 30, DHS and CBP awarded 10 major contracts covering the entire southwest border, including California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Key projects include:
- California: $1.06 billion for 17 miles of Smart Wall plus over 100 miles of upgraded tech in San Diego and El Centro.
- Arizona: $807 million for 23 miles of wall and 120 miles of surveillance enhancements in Yuma and Tucson.
- Texas & New Mexico: $1.58 billion for 70 miles of new wall and 149 miles of detection systems in El Paso.
- Del Rio Sector (Texas): $929 million for 32 miles of wall and 63 miles of water barriers near Eagle Pass.
🌊 Even Biden’s Leftover Funds Are Going to Trump’s Wall
Ironically, a small portion of the Smart Wall money comes from unspent Biden-era funds — a $96 million project for 17 miles of floating barriers along the Rio Grande near Brownsville, Texas. Even leftover Democrat dollars are now helping secure America’s border.
📊 Polls Show Majority of Americans Back the Wall
According to a 2025 Pew Research study, 56% of Americans now favor expanding the border wall — a dramatic increase from 46% in 2019. Support among Republicans is overwhelming at 88%, while even Democrat support has nearly doubled in six years.
This shift shows what millions of Americans already feel: strong borders mean a stronger nation.
🇺🇸 Trump Delivers Where Others Failed
For decades, Washington politicians promised to secure the border and never followed through. President Trump has done what others only talked about — delivering real results, lower crossings, and a safer America.
“For years, Washington talked about border security but failed to deliver,” said Commissioner Scott. “This President changed that.”
🗽 A Safer Future for American Families
Under Trump’s leadership, law enforcement has been restored, American communities are safer, and the border is finally under control.
Every mile of Smart Wall represents a stronger, more secure America — one where our borders are defended, our sovereignty protected, and our laws enforced.
