Could Biden or Obama do this?

In a major win for American jobs and U.S. manufacturing, Eli Lilly announced Tuesday that it will invest a record-breaking $5 billion to build a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Virginia. This bold move comes as President Donald Trump continues to push for companies to bring production back to the United States and reduce dangerous reliance on foreign nations like China.

The massive facility will be built at West Creek Business Park in Goochland County, Virginia, and is expected to create 650 permanent high-paying jobs along with 1,800 construction jobs, providing a huge economic boost to local communities.

Once completed, the plant will focus on producing life-saving medicines, including cancer treatments, autoimmune therapies, and other cutting-edge pharmaceuticals.

Bigger Than Originally Planned

Eli Lilly’s initial plan called for a $2.1 billion investment that would have created 468 jobs.

But under Trump’s pro-America policies, the company more than doubled its commitment, signaling growing confidence in the U.S. economy and manufacturing strength.

“Our investment in Virginia underscores our commitment to U.S. innovation and manufacturing,” said David Ricks, CEO of Eli Lilly. “By expanding our domestic capacity, we are building a secure and resilient supply chain that delivers for patients today while supporting the breakthrough medicines of tomorrow.”

Governor Youngkin Praises Trump and Eli Lilly

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin celebrated the announcement, calling it a historic victory for both Virginia and the nation.

“Eli Lilly is one of the world’s greatest innovators, and this investment proves that America is leading the way in the pharmaceutical industry,” Youngkin said. “By expanding manufacturing here at home, we are protecting our economy, securing our critical drug supply, and positioning Virginia as a leader in innovation for decades to come.”

Trump’s Tough Trade Stance is Paying Off

This monumental investment comes as a direct result of President Trump’s America First policies.

Trump has warned pharmaceutical companies that he is ready to impose tariffs as high as 250% on imported drugs to force production back to the U.S., ensuring that Americans are never dependent on hostile foreign governments for life-saving medicines.

Earlier this year, Eli Lilly announced plans to spend at least $27 billion on four new U.S. manufacturing facilities to counter the potential tariffs and stay ahead of global supply chain risks.

Trump’s “America First” strategy is working — bringing back jobs, boosting the economy, and guaranteeing that American patients have access to safe, domestically produced medicines.

Why This Matters

  • 650 new permanent jobs for hardworking Americans.
  • 1,800 construction jobs boosting the Virginia economy.
  • Stronger national security by reducing dependency on foreign drug suppliers.
  • A major win for Trump’s economic vision and for future generations of Americans.

This is just the latest example of how Trump’s leadership is putting America back on top, with stronger supply chains, better jobs, and a brighter future for all.
