Trump got the last laugh after years of trolling from Kimmel.
President Donald Trump didn’t hold back after Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was abruptly taken off the air. Speaking during a joint press conference in England with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump slammed Kimmel as untalented and claimed the network finally did what should’ve been done long ago.
“Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had terrible ratings—horrible—and after he said a disgusting thing about a great man, Charlie Kirk,” Trump said. “They should have fired him years ago.”
Networks Pull the Plug After Outrage
The decision to yank Jimmy Kimmel Live followed a firestorm of backlash after Kimmel mocked conservative activist Charlie Kirk just days after his tragic assassination. Kimmel suggested without evidence that the killer was a Trump supporter, prompting outrage from viewers and media companies alike.
Disney quickly announced the show would be “preempted indefinitely,” with Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcasting confirming they would no longer air the program across dozens of markets.
Trump Celebrates the Move
On Truth Social, Trump cheered the decision:
“Fantastic news for our country! The failing Jimmy Kimmel show has been taken off the air. ABC finally stepped up and made the right move. Kimmel has absolutely no talent and even worse ratings than Colbert, which says a lot. Now the only ones left are Jimmy and Seth over on Fake News NBC — two complete flops with terrible ratings. Your move, NBC!”
FCC Weighs In
Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr also blasted Kimmel’s remarks, calling them “some of the sickest conduct possible,” and warned that if networks failed to act, the FCC might be forced to step in.
Why It Matters
For years, late-night TV has pushed a left-wing agenda while mocking conservatives. Now, under Trump’s leadership, corporate media giants are facing accountability as millions of Americans demand fairness and respect in broadcasting.
