American voters are waking up to Democrat lies.

Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Patrick Knight delivered a sharp rebuke of Gov. Tim Walz and the state’s Democratic leadership, arguing that Minnesota is rapidly declining under policies driven more by ideology than accountability.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Knight criticized Minnesota’s sanctuary-style approach to immigration enforcement, saying state leaders are selectively applying the law instead of upholding it consistently.

“The law isn’t a buffet,” Knight said, arguing that public officials cannot pick and choose which laws they enforce based on politics. He stressed that the rule of law must apply equally to everyone for a society to function.

Knight, a 20-year Marine Corps veteran and former manufacturing CEO, is one of several Republicans competing for the GOP nomination to replace Walz. He says his campaign comes at a pivotal moment for the state.

Minnesota is still grappling with the fallout from a massive fraud scandal involving state programs, a failure that has reportedly cost taxpayers billions and exposed deep problems in government oversight and management.

According to Knight, the consequences of weak leadership have been felt most by everyday Minnesotans, who are now dealing with rising costs, public safety concerns, and growing distrust in state government.

He argued that when state and local officials cooperate responsibly with federal authorities, immigration enforcement can be handled calmly and lawfully. Problems arise, Knight said, when politics and public theatrics take priority over cooperation.

Knight also pointed to what he described as contradictory statements from Walz on federal immigration enforcement, saying mixed messaging has fueled confusion and division rather than stability.

Zooming out, Knight said Minnesota’s struggles go far beyond immigration. He warned that the state is falling behind on core issues like crime, education, affordability, economic competitiveness, and basic governance.

“For years, Minnesota has been consumed by political theater,” Knight said. “People are tired of it. They want leaders focused on results, not headlines.”

Knight’s campaign centers on what he calls a “big, beautiful, basic, boring” five-point plan focused on strengthening the economy, lowering costs, improving education, restoring the rule of law, and reducing government waste.

He argues the state must move away from ideological experiments and return to common-sense leadership rooted in competence and accountability.

“It’s not complicated,” Knight said. “Minnesota needs a strong, capable governor who will focus on the fundamentals and put the people first.”
