Calls for transparency grow as Biden’s use of autopen and mental fitness come under fire

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) says he’s open to calling former President Joe Biden to testify in the investigation into potential misuse of the autopen and concerns over Biden’s mental fitness.

Speaking on Hannity Wednesday night, Comer warned that if Biden himself authorized questionable document signings, he could be brought before Congress for questioning.

“We’re going to find out who gave the order to use the autopen,” Comer said. “If it was Joe Biden, then I’m absolutely open to bringing him in.”

Biden’s Health Under Scrutiny

Comer recently sent formal interview requests to five high-level Biden associates, including former White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor.

The committee is seeking clarity on what it views as signs of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, and whether his team concealed the truth about his ability to perform presidential duties.

The individuals contacted include:

  • Dr. Kevin O’Connor
  • Neera Tanden
  • Anthony Bernal
  • Annie Tomasini
  • Ashley Williams

All have responded through attorneys. But Comer made it clear: subpoenas will be issued if they refuse to participate.

“We expect full cooperation,” a source on the committee said. “If not, subpoenas are ready.”

Biden’s Use of the Autopen Sparks Outrage

At the center of the controversy is the autopen—a machine that signs documents on behalf of the president. While technically legal, its use is only valid if authorized directly by the president.

However, insiders from the Biden administration have admitted that it’s unclear who was actually giving those orders.

“There is no clarity on who actually approved what—POTUS or a staffer,” one former White House official told The Post.

President Trump and other critics have repeatedly questioned whether Biden was truly in control, or whether unelected aides were acting on his behalf.

Comer: ‘We’re Starting with Staffers, but Biden Isn’t Off the Table’

“We’re starting with the autopen operators,” Comer said. “But we’re also bringing in Dr. O’Connor, because he hasn’t been honest about Biden’s health.”

Assisting in the probe is Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), a former White House doctor who served under both President Obama and President Trump. Jackson has long been critical of Biden’s fitness for office.

Comer also hinted that Hunter Biden, Jill Biden, and former Chief of Staff Ron Klain could soon face scrutiny over their role in what some see as a cover-up of Biden’s cognitive decline.

Growing Public Concern Over Biden’s Fitness for Office

The investigation comes as new revelations deepen public concern.

  • The book Original Sin has exposed disturbing details about Biden’s condition.
  • Biden’s recent public admission that he has prostate cancer which has spread to his bones has only added to the alarm.

No former president has testified before Congress since 1983, when Gerald Ford appeared voluntarily. President Trump was subpoenaed by the January 6 committee in 2022 but declined to appear.

With Comer’s investigation heating up, many Americans—especially older voters—are demanding answers. Who was really running the country during Biden’s presidency?
