Trump’s FBI isn’t taking any chances.
As the world’s largest sporting event prepares to kick off in the United States, President Donald Trump and federal law enforcement are taking extraordinary steps to protect millions of fans from one of the fastest-growing threats in modern security: rogue drones.
While Team USA focuses on defending its championship on the field, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is deploying cutting-edge anti-drone technology to keep America’s skies safe during the upcoming World Cup.
FBI Opens New Counter-Drone Training Center
In a major national security move, the FBI recently launched its National Counter-UAS Training Center in Huntsville.
The specialized facility trains state and local law enforcement officers to:
- Detect unauthorized drones
- Track suspicious flights
- Coordinate with federal agencies
- Neutralize airborne threats
- Protect stadiums, crowds, and critical infrastructure
The two-week intensive course has already trained officers from all 11 World Cup host sites, including teams from New York City, New Jersey, Dallas, and Houston.
Participants complete hands-on exercises that simulate real-world drone threats and teach coordinated response strategies.
$250 Million Invested to Protect Americans
Congress has allocated $250 million this year to combat illegal and potentially dangerous drone activity.
Rep. Robert Aderholt said lawmakers understand the seriousness of the threat.
“Drones are a big threat now,” Aderholt said. “I think they take it very seriously.”
Rep. Jeff Van Drew emphasized the importance of securing major venues such as MetLife Stadium, which will host the World Cup final.
“It’s a real challenge,” Van Drew said.
Texas and New Jersey Receive Millions in Security Funding
Texas Gets $3.2 Million
Texas received an additional $3.2 million to protect matches and fan zones in Dallas and Houston.
New York and New Jersey Receive $17 Million
Officials in New York and New Jersey are receiving $17 million to secure MetLife Stadium and surrounding events. The July 19 final is expected to draw global attention and massive crowds.
Advanced Technology Ready to Stop Drone Threats
Although officials are not revealing the exact systems being deployed, available anti-drone technologies include:
- Signal jammers
- Directed energy systems
- Drone takeover software
- Defensive drones equipped with capture nets
These tools can disable or safely intercept unauthorized aircraft before they pose a threat.
Lessons Learned After the Butler Assassination Attempt
Security agencies dramatically expanded drone defenses after the 2024 assassination attempt against President Trump in Butler.
Investigators found the suspect flew a drone over the area for 11 minutes before opening fire. A congressional report later revealed that key detection equipment was not functioning properly and that some personnel had received limited training.
Those failures exposed critical weaknesses and accelerated the development of stronger protections.
Global Conflicts Highlight Growing Danger
Modern warfare in Ukraine and the Middle East has demonstrated how inexpensive drones can be used for surveillance, sabotage, and direct attacks.
U.S. officials remain concerned that hostile nations and extremist groups could attempt to use similar tactics against crowded American venues.
Rep. Anthony Garbarino said the technology already exists to counter these threats.
“There’s great counter-drone technology,” Garbarino said. “We just have to make sure it gets purchased.”
Trump Administration Sends Clear Message
With millions of fans expected to travel to the United States, the Trump administration is making security a top priority.
Federal agencies are coordinating with state and local authorities, investing in proven technology, and preparing for every possible scenario.
The message is simple: America will welcome the world, but it will do so from a position of strength.
For supporters of President Trump, the new FBI training center represents another example of strong leadership focused on protecting American families, defending national security, and ensuring that one of the biggest events on earth unfolds safely and successfully.
