Here’s what Trump says needs to happen next.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump announced an aggressive new federal crackdown on violent crime in the nation’s capital, vowing to transform Washington, D.C., from one of the most dangerous cities in America into one of the safest.
Speaking from the White House, Trump revealed that a multi-agency operation involving the FBI, ATF, and U.S. Park Police is already rounding up violent offenders, seizing illegal weapons, and shutting down drug networks in high-crime neighborhoods.
“It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the world. It will soon be one of the safest!!!” Trump declared on Truth Social. “Thank you for your attention to this matter. — President DJT”
D.C.’s Shocking Crime Statistics Exposed
According to data from the Center for Public Safety Initiatives at Rochester Institute of Technology, D.C. ranked fourth-highest in the nation for homicide rates in 2024 — with 27.3 murders per 100,000 residents.
- Over 6x higher than New York City’s 4.7 per 100,000
- Nearly 4x higher than Los Angeles’s 7.2 per 100,000
- More than double Newark’s rate of 12.2 per 100,000
Even internationally, D.C.’s homicide rate surpasses Mexico City, Bogota, and Islamabad — an alarming sign for the seat of America’s federal government.
Federal Agents Already Making Arrests
In just one night, authorities arrested eight suspects and seized:
- Two stolen handguns
- 30 fentanyl-laced oxycodone pills
- 210 grams of crack cocaine
- 600 grams of marijuana
- 64 grams of hashish oil
- $3,600 in cash
Kenneth Spencer, chairman of the Fraternal Order of Police, confirmed the operation will continue indefinitely under Trump’s orders.
Brutal Carjacking Attack Sparks Outrage
The crackdown follows the vicious beating of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer Edward Coristine, known as “Big Balls,” during an attempted carjacking by a mob of teenagers. Billionaire Elon Musk posted a photo of the bloodied victim, igniting national outrage over D.C.’s spiraling youth violence.
Youth Crime Wave Out of Control
Since 2023, 333 carjacking suspects have been arrested in the District, with 56% under the age of 18. Many are gang members as young as 14.
Trump blasted D.C.’s leadership for adopting soft-on-crime policies that release dangerous offenders back onto the streets.
Trump warned that young offenders and gang members are assaulting, robbing, injuring, and even shooting innocent Americans — fully aware they’ll likely be back on the streets within hours.
Trump’s Executive Order: Law and Order Restored
The President’s executive order directs:
- Increased Metropolitan Police recruitment
- Daily coordination with federal agencies
- High-crime neighborhood saturation patrols
Republican leaders are also demanding accountability from D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Attorney General Brian Schwalb, pointing to the 2021 killing of a 66-year-old Uber driver by two teen girls as a tragic example of policy failure.
A Turning Point for America’s Capital
“This is going to have a huge impact on crime in the city,” Spencer said. “We’ve been directed to keep up the pressure until further notice.”
With Trump’s law-and-order agenda in full force, many residents believe Washington, D.C. is on the verge of a historic turnaround — sending a message that criminals will face swift and decisive justice.
