President Trump is sounding the alarm — and New York City could be the one paying the price.

In a powerful interview with Fox News, President Donald Trump issued a stark warning: if far-left Democrat Zohran Mamdani becomes mayor of New York City, the Big Apple could lose its massive stream of federal funding.

“If this guy gets in, and I’m president, he’s going to have to do the right thing — or they’re not getting a penny,” Trump told Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo. “We’re not going to fund communism in America’s largest city.”

Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, recently pulled off a shocking primary upset over former Governor Andrew Cuomo. His radical platform includes:

  • Raising taxes on New York’s wealthiest residents
  • Eliminating billionaires altogether
  • Redistributing wealth to what he calls “overlooked communities”
  • Targeting “rich and white” neighborhoods for increased tax burdens

Despite denying he’s a communist, Mamdani openly cites socialist civil rights rhetoric and champions wealth redistribution on a massive scale. “I don’t think we should have billionaires,” he declared on NBC’s Meet the Press. “This is about creating fairness across our city, state, and country.”

Trump, who championed the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and reignited America’s energy sector, warned that Mamdani’s election would turn New York into a failed socialist experiment.

“It’s shocking. I used to say we’d never see a socialist take power in America — now, one might run New York City.”

New York currently receives over $100 billion in federal aid annually. President Trump made it clear that this funding would be in jeopardy under a Mamdani administration that refuses to cooperate with federal policies — especially on immigration enforcement, law and order, and economic freedom.

Mamdani has even floated the idea of arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits New York — a move Trump called “insane” and “dangerously un-American.”

The radical candidate enjoys support from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other far-left progressives, but he has yet to gain backing from mainstream Democrats like Governor Kathy Hochul, who carefully distanced herself after his primary win.

Even moderate Democrats are uneasy, as Mamdani pushes what many view as the most extreme political agenda in modern New York history. Yet Mamdani insists he’s “fighting for working people” and “returning to the roots of the Democratic Party” — a claim that’s raising eyebrows across the country.

As President Trump leads in national polls and sharpens his 2025 campaign message, his no-nonsense approach to law, order, and fiscal responsibility is striking a chord with American voters.
