What was Comey thinking?!?!
Washington, D.C. — Former FBI Director James Comey is under federal investigation after posting a suspicious message that President Donald Trump says was a thinly veiled call for his assassination.
The U.S. Secret Service confirmed that Comey, 64, was interviewed Friday evening at its Washington field office after posting a photo on Instagram showing seashells arranged to form the number “8647.”
That number carries a disturbing message, according to President Trump: in slang, “86” means to eliminate, and “47” is widely recognized as referring to Trump — the 47th President of the United States.
“He knew exactly what that meant,” President Trump said in a Fox News interview with Bret Baier. “A child would know what that meant. That meant ‘assassination.’”
The image sparked immediate backlash and forced Comey to delete the post. In a follow-up statement, the former FBI director claimed ignorance. “It never occurred to me,” he said, while denying any violent intent.
But conservatives aren’t buying it.
National Security Leaders Respond
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has confirmed that an official investigation is underway into what she described as a potentially criminal threat by the “disgraced former FBI director.”
The post comes at a time of heightened political tension — and follows two attempted assassinations on President Trump during his second term.
- In July 2024, a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, critically injuring the President. Secret Service snipers killed the attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, on the scene.
- Just two months later, Ryan Wesley Routh attempted a second attack at Trump’s Florida golf course. Although he initially escaped gunfire, he was arrested and now faces federal charges.
Comey’s Long History of Anti-Trump Actions
Comey, who led the FBI under President Obama, was fired by President Trump in 2017 for mishandling multiple investigations — including the now-debunked Russia collusion hoax.
That conspiracy was rooted in the Clinton-funded Steele Dossier, a collection of discredited claims designed to link Trump to Russian interference in the 2016 election. Special Counsel John Durham later revealed the FBI’s probe was politically motivated, launched with no credible evidence, and pushed by top Obama-era officials including Comey and CIA Director John Brennan.
Durham’s report also confirmed that Hillary Clinton approved the plan to falsely tie Trump to Russia in order to distract from her own email scandal.
Trump: ‘Comey Should Be Prosecuted’
President Trump blasted Comey during his Fox News appearance: “He’s a dirty cop. Attorney General Pam Bondi must take strong legal action — this man is a threat to democracy and to the safety of the President of the United States.”
For many Americans, the shell post wasn’t just a prank — it was a dog whistle that could have encouraged further violence against the President.
With political tensions rising, questions are being asked: how many more coded threats are out there — and who’s behind them?
